Shine Farms sprouts at former Victory Farms site in Varina

Table of Contents

Shine Farms in Varina has launched its operation under the leadership of founders Nicole Broder and Jes Carr.

The operation is based on the site of the former Victory Farm (7001 Osborne Turnpike), which was purchased late last year by Ian Newell, the owner of the Richmond restaurant Goatocado. Newell hopes to build a collaborative space there for local food, land stewardship and small business incubation and has named the endeavor the Living Project.

Shine Farms, partnering with Goatocado and the Living Project, will grow diversified produce using regenerative and sustainable farming practices. Shine will offer its produce Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Goatocado, 1823 West Main Street, from May 11 through Nov. 23 and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. at Vasen, 3331 West Moore Street, during the same timeframe.
