Seventh-grader allegedly stabs another at Brookland Middle School

One seventh-grade student at Brookland Middle School allegedly stabbed another in a locker room at the school just before noon Tuesday, according to Henrico Police. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. There is no further word on that student’s condition.

Someone at the school alerted the school resource officer to the stabbing, which occurred at about 11:44 a.m., according to police. Police officials indicated that they had located a person of interest in connection to the stabbing but did not indicate whether it was the suspect.

Police are investigating the relationship between the two students and what led up to the stabbing. Henrico Police Criminal Investigation Unit members are on scene collecting evidence and speaking with possible witnesses. Officers recovered a small-bladed knife.

There is no threat to the community, police said, adding that they would provide additional resources to the school for the rest of the school day.
