Second COVID-19 booster shots now available through RRHD

Table of Contents

Following the recent FDA authorization of second boosters, CDC revised guidelines, and announcement from the Virginia Department of Health that second boosters are available for eligible Virginians, Richmond and Henrico Health Districts officials have opened all of their events – including the new Doses on Demand in-home vaccination program – to those who qualify for second boosters.

Those eligible include:
• all adults 50 and older who received their first booster dose at least four months ago •

• adults 18 to 49 who received the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine as both their primary series dose and, at least four months ago, a booster dose; those people now will receive a Pfizer or Moderna booster;

• those 12 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised and who received their first booster dose at least four month ago.

Second boosters also are available through pharmacies and private providers.

Any eligible person now may receive their second booster by making an appointment, walking in at a clinic, or scheduling an in-home vaccination through Doses on Demand; visit vax.rchd.com or call (804) 205-3501 to learn more about the options.

Upcoming walk-in clinics are scheduled

• April 1, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Southwood Pool House (Clarkson Road and Southwood Parkway) in Richmond;

• April 1, from 1 p.m. to 2:$5 p.m., Fairfield Resource Center (2506 Phaup Street in Richmond).
