Table of Contents

"All Henrico Reads" featured author Lisa Scottoline, an international best-selling author of legal and domestic thrillers, will appear in Henrico April 10 to discuss her thriller After Anna at All Henrico Reads 2019. The event is free and open to the public, no tickets are required, and doors open at 6 p.m. Scottoline’s discussion will begin at 7pm.

Scottoline is known for crafting thrillers with strong female protagonists that feature riveting plot twists and highlight the author’s legal acumen: before beginning her 25-year career as a best-selling author, Ms. Scottoline worked as a litigator in Philadelphia. She also is the co-author of a humor column in the Philadelphia Inquirer called Chick Wit alongside her daughter Francesca Serritella.

After Anna is Scottoline’s 2018 standalone thriller about a suburban housewife-turned-sleuth who attempts to solve the murder of her estranged daughter as her husband stands trial for the crime. Copies of After Anna and other works by Scottoline will be available for sale from BBGB Booksellers at the event, before and after the discussion. The first 300 people to enter the Glen Allen High School auditorium the evening of All Henrico Reads will receive a copy of After Anna courtesy of the Scottoline. The event will close with a book signing.

Scottoline’s newest thriller, Someone Knows, is scheduled to be released the day before All Henrico Reads, on April 9.

Curious readers can attend a book discussion of After Anna at a Henrico County Public Library, check out a copy of the book from their local library or attend upcoming programs related to All Henrico Reads.

On March 9 at 2 p.m. at Libbie Mill Library, aspiring writers and fans of the thriller and mystery genres can attend Mysterypalooza!, a panel discussion featuring local published mystery writers discussing their paths to publication. The panel will include Frances Aylor, Mollie Cox Bryan, Mary Miley Theobald, and LynDee Walker, and is presented by Sisters In Crime of Central Virginia.

On April 13 at Glen Allen Library, Sisters In Crime will present a two-hour workshop at 11 a.m. for mystery writers about plotting and forensic writing with author Elaine Viets. Twin Hickory and Varina libraries will host special After Anna-inspired Murder Mystery Escape Room events for teens and adults, happening at 6 p.m. at Twin Hickory on April 18, and 6 p.m. at Varina on May 1.

All Henrico Reads is an annual reading program in which the Henrico community is encouraged to all read the same book, then discuss it – whether at Henrico Library book discussion groups, or on their own – and join together to hear the author speak at a public event. The event aims to encourage a sense of community, promote literacy and foster a love for the connecting power of literature.
