The Chick-fil-A at White Oak Village in Eastern Henrico erupted in cheers Feb. 26 as team member Taylor Powell was surprised with a $25,000 scholarship and a new laptop.

Having survived a malignant brain tumor as a child, Powell plans to use the scholarship to major in psychology at University of Virginia and pursue a career as a clinical child psychologist.

A student government representative and captain of the cheerleading and track teams at RISE Academy, Taylor also received a new laptop at the celebration.  Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew T. Cathy was on hand for the presentation of the check and the laptop, as were family members, coworkers, RISE Academy faculty and staff, and members of Taylor's cheer team.

Her scholarship award is one of only 13 $25K scholarships awarded to Chick-fil-A team members across the country this year as part of the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarships program.
