Table of Contents

Local retailer Saxon Shoes is marking its 65th birthday, and the company is celebrating the occasion with its 26th annual “Saxon Shoes for the Needy” collection to benefit The Salvation Army.

Saxon hosted an Oct. 26 kickoff event at the store in Short Pump Town Center to help get people in the giving spirit. The collected shoes will be presented to The Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center in Richmond and The Salvation Army in Fredericksburg. Last year’s program collected nearly 6,000 pairs of shoes.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 24 at Saxon Shoes at Short Pump Town Center, 11800 West Broad Street, and at its Fredericksburg store. Saxon encourages participation from individuals and families as well as groups from schools, churches, businesses and other organizations. Groups may register at saxonshoes.com and have the option to receive public recognition by Saxon, as well as promotional materials to help with their collection.
