More than 4,000 junior volleyball athletes and an estimated 6,000 spectators from Maryland, North Carolina, Delaware and beyond will visit the area the weekend of Jan. 18-20 for the 16th annual Monument City Classic tournament, hosted by Richmond Volleyball Club (RVC).
Approximately 350 teams will play on 45 courts at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, RVC's Byrdhill location in Henrico, and RVC Stonebridge in Chesterfield.
Volleyball is the fourth most popular spectator sport at the summer Olympics, where it has been played for both men and women consistently since 1964.
