RVA French Food Festival adds six new chefs to its menu

Table of Contents

The RVA French Food Festival – scheduled April 26-27 at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Road in Henrico – will feature six new chefs this year, organizers announced last month.

Chefs from Little Saint, Tarrant’s Café, Tarrant’s West, Bar Solita, Spoonbread Bistro and Max’s on Broad will join the event, which benefits the Little Sisters of the Poor and its care of Virginia's elderly poor.

Menu additions range from a brie, fig and bacon jam sandwich to a jumbo lump crab cake atop crispy fried spoonbread topped with lobster beurre blanc and roasted asparagus.

Little Saint will bring a vegan-friendly option with a vegan banh mi, while meat-lovers can enjoy braised port wine short ribs, duck confit, and even chicken and waffles.

Returning this year are:

• headliner Master Chef Paul Elbling, with his four classic French dishes;

• Chef Sean Murphy with Cajun classics shrimp and grits, beignets, and gumbo;

• Chef Michael McClure with coq au vin and ratatouille;

• and Chef Mike Ledesma with a fried chicken banh mi with housemade kim chi, pickles, and spicy aioli.

Dessert options range from chocolate hazelnut crepes to crème brulee or cream puffs.

The festival will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 27 and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 28.

Craft beer connoisseurs and wine fanatics can enjoy local craft brews, classic French wines (including suggestions for pairing with dishes), and wine slushies.

The festival’s Parisian marketplace will feature goods for sale from local artisans and vendors, including clothing, jewelry, home goods, and more. Live music and entertainment will be provided from the main stage and throughout the grounds, while a children’s area featuring a bounce house and games will be open April 27 for younger festivalgoers.

Sponsored by Page Auto Group, the festival is free to attend, though a voluntary donation of $2 per person is suggested. Parking conveniently is free at the nearby Forest Office Park.
