For the past 20 years, the Varina Ruritan Club (in conjunction with Colonial Farm Credit) has been presenting local students with college scholarship money to help them with fees.
This year, the club honored three scholarship recipients and presented them with their checks during a July 9 meeting. The students (from left, with Ruritan President Buddy Whitlow) were Jamie Wagner (Liberty University), Kara Hill (Hampton University) and Arayana Harris (Old Dominion University). Hill graduated this May from Varina High School, and the other two recipients graduated from the school in prior years.
