Richmond Region Tourism will host its Awards & Annual Meeting on Friday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. to recognize hospitality partners and professionals making an impact in the Richmond region.

The free virtual event will include the debut of Richmond Region Tourism’s new “Find Your Moment” advertising campaign that will encourage residents to safely explore the region and share their favorite experiences. The effort will be the first local campaign from the organization and includes digital, television and social media advertising.

The Awards & Annual Meeting takes place during National Travel and Tourism Week (May 2-8), which is helping to spotlight the role that travel will play in driving economic rebound efforts.

“The tourism industry is strong, resilient and creative,” said Jack Berry, Richmond Region Tourism CEO and president. “While the pandemic decimated the travel, tourism and meetings industry everywhere, we are now in the early stages of recovery. This year we’re especially grateful for the opportunity to honor the people whose dedication and passion are the lifeblood of the hospitality community at the Awards & Annual Meeting.”

People who register and attend on Friday will have a chance to win a “Work from Downtown Staycation” sponsored by Venture Richmond and Hilton Richmond Downtown. The package, worth more than $500, includes a Monday-Wednesday stay for two people, complimentary breakfast, parking and restaurant gift certificates.

During the event, the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association will be honored with the Tourism Impact Award, the highest honor given each year. Danny Avula, Director of the Richmond City and Henrico County health departments, will also receive the Chairman’s Award for his work to lead vaccination efforts in Virginia.

Additional honorees making an impact in the hospitality industry will be recognized, as well.

Andréa Lyons, the CEO and Executive Producer of All About Presentation will host the Awards & Annual Meeting.
