The online business review website ranks the region as one of the top five places in the country for new Black-owned businesses.

“Our region is home to a vibrant community of Black-owned businesses,” said Tameka Jefferson, Richmond Region Tourism community relations manager and BLK RVA lead. “These businesses are an integral part of our history, present and future, and make our region an exciting place to live and visit.”

Richmond Region Tourism’s BLK RVA campaign was launched in 2019 with the goal of raising awareness about Black-owned businesses in the area. The campaign also aims to encourage people to increase their support for these businesses.

“The latest Yelp data is another proof point of how our region has become a dynamic hub for entrepreneurialism and cultural diversity,” Jefferson added. “This Black History Month and beyond, it’s important for us all to support our community’s incredible Black-owned businesses.”
