Richmond Raceway will host an Xfinity Series NASCAR race April 2 and a Camping World Truck Series playoffs race Aug. 13 next year, NASCAR officials announced Wednesday.

NASCAR previously announced that Richmond would host its traditional two Cup Series races April 3 and Aug. 14. The Cup Series is the circuit’s top series of racing, while the Xfinity Series is akin to its highest “minor league” level and the Camping World Series is its truck circuit.

“The NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series always provide some of the strongest competition at Richmond Raceway, so we are proud to welcome back each series for 2022,” said Dennis Bickmeier, Richmond Raceway’s president. “We look forward to the drivers in each of these series showcasing their talent and skills at America’s Premier Short Track in 2022.”

It will be the Xfinity Series’ first stop in Richmond in three years; the track has previously hosted the series from 1982 to 1984 and from 1990 to 2019.

The Camping World Truck Series Playoffs race will be part of Richmond’s first-ever summer race weekend and also will be its first-ever playoff race in the series. It will be the second playoff race of the series.

Start times and television networks for the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series will be announced at a later date.
