Richmond Raceway to host 2018 NASCAR season launch event Jan. 26

Richmond Raceway will host the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup at the inaugural Season Launch Spectacular on Friday, Jan. 26 at the complex's Old Dominion Building.

RR will host two race weekends under the lights, open its Richmond Raceway Reimagined modernized infield and host its first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series Playoff races in 2018.

The Season Launch Spectacular will include fan photo opportunities with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup, introduction of the new Richmond Raceway Simulator, a meet-and-greet with 2018 Team Racing Virginia athletes, a NASCAR Heat 2 Tournament, tailgate games with exclusive prizes and more.

“We will drop the green flag to welcome our loyal fans back for the Season Launch Spectacular,” said Richmond Raceway President Dennis Bickmeier. “As one of the select tracks to now host a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series Playoff weekend, we invite our fans to get up close with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup in Richmond."

Doors will open at 5 p.m. General public admission is $10 and free for children 12 and under; 2018 Richmond Nation members will receive free admission and are able to bring guests, equivalent to the number of 2018 tickets they have purchased, for free.
