Richmond Raceway to close as COVID-19 testing center Feb. 8

Richmond Raceway will close as a COVID-19 community testing center Feb. 8, Richmond and Henrico Health Districts officials announced Monday.
The move comes as the facility has witnessed lower demand for testing during the past few weeks. Officials will transition the CTC into a mobile model, allowing the health districts to offer testing in a variety of locations and settings.
Mobile events will begin later this week, and a new schedule will be posted on the RHHD website in the coming days. The new mobile events will supplement community-based testing events held by RHHD and other local health districts in the area.
The mobile model will continue to be operated by VDH contractor Ashbritt-IEM.
“We want to ensure there continues to be ample testing options to everyone in our communities, no matter where you live or what your schedule is like,” said Jessica Coughlin, emergency manager at RHHD. “The additional clinical capacity offered by Ashbritt-IEM allows us to be more creative in where we implement testing.”
