Richmond International Airport witnesses busiest summer on record

Richmond International Airport celebrated its busiest summer ever, with 1.765 million passengers traveling through the airport between May and August, according to airport statistics. The total represented an increase of about 2.5% compared to the same period last year.
May marked RIC's busiest month on record, with a total of 455,114 passengers traveling through the airport. Airport officials attributed the passenger growth to the airport's expanding network of nonstop destinations. It currently offers a record number of nonstop flights, with more new routes scheduled to be announced soon, according to officials.
