The Richmond Black Widows, a women’s football team, will hold tryouts for the upcoming season Oct. 10 at Moody Middle School, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Any woman 17 and a half or older is eligible to try out, and no experience is required. Standard COVID-safe practices will be observed, with socially distanced drills, sanitization stations and face masks encouraged, though the latter may not be used during running drills.

“We are excited to get a start on the 2021 season, especially after having the 2020 season cancelled,” says Sarah Schkeeper, founder and owner of the Richmond Black Widows. “It has been a difficult time for most everyone, and, while a return to normalcy is strongly desired, our team and our league, the Women’s Football Alliance, are committed to doing so as safely as possible for all involved.”
