Table of Contents

The airport announced recently that it has opened two temporary service animal relief areas for pets in the concourses near gates A8 and B1. These new SARAs join the existing outdoor pet relief areas located between the parking garages and the terminal. The Richmond SPCA, the Humane Society, and Gresham Smith are teaming up to help the airport create permanent SARAs.

In addition, the airport also has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, which was launched in 2016 in England to help identify travelers with disabilities such as dementia or autism by offering them lanyards with sunflowers on them. Lanyards are visible symbols that alert airport staff to the potential need for additional assistance or support. Sunflower lanyards are available at more than 230 airports worldwide.
