Burger Bach, 2225 Old Brick Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility could not provide documentation of a certified food protection manager; person in charge was not able to identify the “big six” foodborne illnesses and their associated symptoms (no written policy available); slicer and two knives on magnetic strip are soiled with food debris; observed elevated temperatures in several foods in two reach-in refrigerators on the cook line (pimento cheese, street corn, salsa, pickled onions, spinach dip, pimento, tomatoes, pickled red onions); temperature of pasta prepared four hours ago in the walk-in is elevated (not being cooled properly); yellowfin tuna incorrectly thawing in reduced-oxygen packaging; individual cutting boards and cutting board at salad station are heavily scratched; flat spatula is chipped and cracked; two ladles appear to not be cleanable anymore; observed gap in the hood filters and a filter is missing; observed mold and food debris on walk-in cooler racks.

Chicago’s Pizza with a Twist, 3641-F Cox Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: can opener blade in kitchen and soda gun nozzle at bar are dirty; garlic and herb butter is on time control but a time wasn’t recorded; ice scoop handle is laying in the ice; left side gasket on the reach-in freezer is torn; one rack in the walk-in is very rusty; cold water is unavailable at the women’s restroom hand sink due to a leak; hose at the mop sink has a spray nozzle attached without a back flow preventer in place; wall behind the dishwasher has mildew build-up.

Pop’s Dogs & Ma’s Burgers, 7301 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of tomatoes and hot dogs in the small prep unit are elevated; observed old food on the inside of the prep unit; heavy build-up of ice found in freezer; observed old drink syrup on floor behind the drink machine.

Taco Bell, 4388 South Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: nozzles of freeze machine are covered in a black substance; nozzles of soda machine have food/soda build-up; temperature of tomatoes is elevated; prep units not in use have shredded cheese spilled in the bottom and on the gaskets.

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, 2318 East Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed dried food debris on chicken flour scoop; grime build-up found on inside door of ice machine; multiple foods on breading line have elevated temperatures (raw chicken and raw egg); breading line refrigeration is leaking and not holding foods at the proper temperature; observed build-up of dried food debris on walk-in shelves, side of oven, shelves by drive-through, on soap dispenser by fry line and on bulk flour lid; low grout found on floor of cook line; observed dried food debris and grime build-up on floors, floor drains, walk-in floor, and walk-in door and door handle; wet mops are not being hung to air dry.

SEPT. 1

First Watch Restaurant, 11721 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: an open drink found on shelf above prep table; facility could not provide a parasite destruction letter from salmon distributor; knives on magnet strip are dirty; containers of a white substance are not labeled; observed old food on top of the dish machine, on rolling racks, on floor behind dish machine and on rolling table next to half wall; black mold found on wall behind dish machine.

Shawarma Bistro, 12422 Gayton Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge was not able to identify the “big six” foodborne illnesses and their associated symptoms; no written employee health policy available; knives stored on magnet are soiled; caulking at three-compartment sink is moldy.

KFC, 9000 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: green paint is flaking off shelves in the walk-in cooler; observed grease and food debris in all hot holding units; observed encrusted grease on biscuit baking trays and on amber colored hot holding trays; a hose is under pressure without the proper backflow device; ceiling is dusty; observed grease and chicken on the floor in the fryer line; observed broken tiles in the mop sink and a few chipped tiles on the fryer line; several light bulbs are not working.

SEPT. 2

Einstein Brothers Bagels, 1368 Gaskins Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: front hand sink is not being used because the water splashes into the drink-making area; soap is not available at the front hand sink; ice scoop handle is laying in the ice; under counter refrigerator up front is not being used because it’s broken; cutting boards throughout the facility are stained and/or deeply scratched; several non-food contact surfaces are dirty (inside of refrigerators and gaskets, wire racks, counter shelving, storage containers and exterior of drink machine); floors and walls throughout the facility are dirty, especially at floor and wall junctions; drain at the mop sink is dirty and emitting a foul odor; floor tiles at the entry to the service line are broken and/or completely loose from the floor; two light shields are missing in the back kitchen.

El Nopal II Inc., 5205 South Laburnum Avenue – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Wingstop, 9048 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed grease residue and dust on wire racks above the three-compartment sink; a hose is under pressure without the proper backflow device; observed build-up of grime and food debris in floor drains under prep and three-compartment sinks.

Ho Ho Chinese Restaurant, 10 East Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: front hand sink doesn’t have soap; observed dried food debris on rice scoop and bulk flour bin, inside low boy refrigeration unit and microwave, and on lids of buckets; observed an employee rinsing dishes, not washing or sanitizing; temperature of cooked noodles is elevated because they are not being cooled properly; ant killer, bug spray and paint are incorrectly stored on a shelf with food; facility is serving imitation scallops but the menu does not indicate this; cutting boards are deeply stained and scratched; sinks in restrooms are not functioning; hose used to clean the hood system is under pressure without the proper backflow device; dried food debris found on walls, floors and in mop sink; observed openings in wall around pipes; floor tiles are in disrepair.
