AUG. 23

Chuy’s, 11229 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: paper towel dispenser at drink station is empty; observed grime and mildew build-up in big ice machine, ice basin in server alley and in ice basins at bar; pans on storage racks are stored wet nested; rubber spatula is stained and cracked; several cutting boards are deeply scratched and stained; observed dust and debris build-up on hood filters by conveyor oven and on fan grates in walk-in coolers; observed food debris on third pans holding small to-go containers; observed dust build-up on ceilings by vents, grime build-up in floor drains by the big ice machine, and grime build-up at bar drains and floors.

Burgerworks, 10321 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed an employee handle raw burger and then a burger bun without washing hands in between tasks; there is zero sanitizer in dish machine; ice scoop handle is touching ice; light in hood is burned out; fryer baskets are in disrepair; storage racks are rusty; walk-in cooler is not maintaining the proper temperature; fan grates in walk-in cooler are dusty; observed food debris on gaskets of lowboys and on bottom of reach-in freezer; multiple sinks are leaking/slow to drain; wet mop incorrectly stored on floor (hang to dry).

Organic Krush, 3406 Pump Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: chemical dishwasher dispensed 0 ppm of chlorine because the sanitizer bucket is low; temperatures of salad greens and coconut peanut sauce are elevated; found spoiled seaweed past its expiration date in the walk-in; stainless steal cleaner incorrectly stored over flour on dry storage rack; a light is out under the hood system; one low boy unit and the walk-in freezer are currently not functioning; spray nozzle attachment on the mop sink doesn’t have a backflow prevention device; observed some debris and soils under the cookline.

Pho Number 1, 10073 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: kitchen hand sink and women’s restroom do not have paper towels; raw shrimp and raw beef incorrectly stored over cooked chicken and raw eggs incorrectly stored over cooked sausage in the walk-in cooler; prep table where raw meat is prepared was not sanitized before prepping cooked meat; temperatures of several foods are elevated (pho, bean sprouts, cut lettuce, noodles, bean sprouts, raw steak, raw chicken, raw shrimp, tofu, rice and egg rolls); pho made yesterday did not have a date mark; noodles and rice are being cooled improperly; containers of white powder are unlabeled; observed wet wiping cloths sitting out on prep surfaces (store in sanibucket); observed build-up of ice in chest freezer near boba area and in walk-in freezer; single-service grocery bags are being used to store unwrapped chicken in walk-in cooler and freezer; cutting board on prep unit and a cutting board in back near walk-in cooler are heavily scratched and stained; floors throughout the facility are dirty.

True Taste 1, 1090 Virginia Center Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: employee was cutting carrots that do not get cooked with bare hands; hand sink was obstructed and had a sponge in it (hand sink is for handwashing only); moldy oranges found in low boy and walk-in cooler; raw beef incorrectly stored over ready-to-eat sweet and sour chicken and raw meat incorrectly stored over veggies in walk-in; pasta and dumplings made yesterday do not have date marks; person in charge stated that fried chicken is on a time control policy but no times are recorded; bleach sanitizer at three-compartment sink is over 200 ppm; cigarettes incorrectly stored on a shelf on the cookline; crab rangoons and crab and asparagus soup are made with imitation crab but the menu does not indicate this; several white powders on the cookline are unlabeled; food incorrectly stored on the ground in walk-in cooler and freezer; rice is dry storage is not covered; flour under prep table is not covered; two wet wiping cloths are sitting out on prep tables (store in sanibucket); scoop for rice is a plastic bowl; racks in walk-in and cookline low boy are rusty; plastic single-use grocery bags are being used to store food in reach-in and walk-in; sides of fryer are very greasy; many areas need cleaning (outside of prep unit on cookline, bottom shelf of prep table, walls throughout the kitchen, outside of walk-in cooler, hood vents).

KFC/Taco Bell, 8340 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed dried/encrusted residue on bean scoop at three-compartment sink; observed a white build-up on and in tea urn nozzle; temperature of lettuce on the line is elevated (it’s not on a time control); cutting boards on the line are deeply scratched; build-up of grease and other soils found on exteriors of equipment at the cookline (including pipes), on plastic covers on the hot line for chicken, and inside of low boy refrigerators; no dual check valve observed on the mop sink that had a hose with a spray nozzle attached; observed low to no grout in areas of the kitchen; floor under the cookline is dirty; ceiling vent over the cook/prep area is dusty.

Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant, 10099 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: water at hand sinks in the kitchen did not reach at least 100 degrees; no sanitizer found in the bar dish machine; temperature of beans cooked the previous day is elevated (beans were in a four-inch pan); temperatures of cooked chicken and ground beef in the walk-in cooler are elevated; cheese sauce does not have a date mark; sanitizer strength in the kitchen dish machine is greater than 200 ppm; containers of flour, salt and sugar are unlabeled; ice scoop handles are touching ice in the kitchen and at the bar; chips are being stored in trash cans without food grade plastic liners; marinade is being stored in a chemical bucket; observed a hose under pressure without the proper backflow device.

Sun Top’s China, 5660 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility does not have a certified food protection manager; open soda can found on the cook line; raw chicken is incorrectly stored over soy sauce and raw shrimp is incorrectly stored over tofu in the walk-in cooler; temperatures of bean sprouts and noodles are elevated because they’re sitting out on the prep table; General Tso’s chicken made yesterday does not have a date mark; chicken was cooked and left out for the lunch period; wontons are cooling at room temperature instead of being placed in the walk-in cooler; facility is serving imitation crab but menu does not indicate this; white powders on the cook line are unlabeled; rice bin on rack is not covered; wet wiping cloths are sitting out on the prep table (store in sanitizer bucket); plastic single-serve grocery bags are being used to store food in the walk-in cooler and freezer; lights on the cook line are very dim.

Panera Bread, 11703 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of hummus in the make table and lettuce in a refrigerated drawer are elevated; a squeeze bottle of water is not labeled; walk-in fan guards are dusty; observed build-up in gaskets along the prep line; observed debris under make tables and mildew on the dish area wall.

AUG. 27

Anna’s Pizza Pasta and Subs, 601 North Airport Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; observed build-up of grime in ice machine; sanitizer level of sanibucket is at zero ppm; temperatures of sliced tomato, shredded lettuce, sliced cheese and sliced deli meat are elevated; portioned cooked pasta in the walk-in unit does not have a date mark; salmon incorrectly thawing in reduced-oxygen packaging; observed a leak at three-compartment sink.

Subway Sandwiches & Salads, 73 South Airport Drive – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

TGI Friday’s, 4459 South Laburnum Avenue – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.
