Red Salt, 12221 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: two hand sinks in the kitchen are missing paper towels; facility could not provide parasite destruction records from salmon provider; can opener and slicer are dirty; temperatures of herb butter, pasta, cream sauce, roasted corn, lettuce, eggrolls, batters and breading, and salmon are elevated; butane incorrectly stored with ingredients on a shelf; observed items recently prepped put directly into prep top to cool (advised to cool in the walk-in or freezer first); bulk bins of white powder ingredients are not labeled; observed two flies in the kitchen because back door was cracked open; take-out containers on the cookline are not stored inverted; cutting boards on rack are scratched and stained; walk-in racks, microwave, floor drains in the kitchen, and sides of equipment are dirty; floor in sushi area has old debris; observed some patches of low grout throughout the back kitchen.

JULY 6

Mi Guerrero Grill, 61 S. Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed employees put on gloves to handle food without washing hands first; hand sink was blocked during food prep; raw pieces of meat found in a container of spices; observed employees washing dishes but not sanitizing them; ice machine has build-up of grime; observed horchata made this morning cooling in drink dispenser; temperatures of raw chicken and raw beef in two-door reach-in cooler are elevated; single-use grocery bags are being reused to store food (cooked rice); facility could not provide chlorine test kit for three-compartment sink; ceiling tiles are not smooth and easily cleanable.

Anokha Indian Cuisine, 4015 Lauderdale Drive – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: observed a roach by the back door on the electrical panel; gaskets in large prep unit and freezer are torn; walk-in racks are rusty; grout is low in some areas of the kitchen.

Tropical Smoothie Café, 9972 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: plastic bins incorrectly stacked wet on shelf; observed standing water in fruit prep unit; heavily ice build-up found in freezer; drains throughout the kitchen need cleaning; observed food splatter on walls and build-up on back wall behind dump sink.

McDonald’s, 4708 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: front hand sink is missing paper towels; interior of ice machine has a layer of dirt; observed light gap on bottom of back door; observed two employees with long hair that did not have any hair restraints; ice bucket is not stored inverted; shelf under hash brown hot-holding has loose fries; blender has heavy food build-up greater than one day old; water is pooling in low boy on the cookline and on the floor near the dish machine and soda machine; floors of dry storage downstairs and walk-in freezer need cleaning; a light is out in the walk-in cooler; hood filters above flat top grill are greasy.

Irie Vibes Caribbean Restaurant, 201 Towne Center West Boulevard – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: beef and chicken patties in warmer found at improper temperature; improper cooling methods used for peas, yams and other foods in pots with lids; tongs being stored in water at pastry warmer; take-out containers are not stored inverted; gasket in reach-in is broken but taped.

Little Caesar’s, 12410 Gayton Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: found two dented cans on shelf in dry storage; observed food debris in several pizza pans; some racks are greasy and dusty.

JULY 7

Captain D’s Seafood, 4800 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink in front service area is obstructed by red sanitizer bucket; ice machine, tea nozzle and nozzle on Gatorade container have a layer of dirt/build-up; low boy in service area and walk-in cooler and freezer have torn gaskets; several plastic bins are cracked, melted or chipping; racks throughout the kitchen are dirty and dusty; observed grease build-up on cookline equipment, especially fryers; floors throughout the facility are dirty; observed dusty ceiling vent and patches of mold/black substance on ceiling near corn steamer; observed low grouting in kitchen; floor tiles are missing in between walk-in cooler and freezer; floor drain under prep sink is in poor repair.

Richmond First Tee - Belmont Golf Course, 1600 Hilliard Road – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

JULY 8

Juice Bar Short Pump, 2437 Old Brick Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: front hand sink is missing paper towels; individual cutting boards on storage shelf are deeply scratched and stained; inside of ice machine is chipped; observed a build-up of ice in reach-in freezer and condensation on prep top units; storage shelf under table is broken; spray nozzle hose is rusted; single-service cups are stored in containers made of unsealed wood; observed food debris and build-up on push cart and fan; observed rust and grime on the outside of all refrigeration units and the outside of three-compartment sink basins; food debris and grime build-up found on pipes under three-compartment sink, in floor drain at three-compartment sink and on floor mats; coving tiles are peeling away from the wall; caulking is moldy and mildewy.
