JUNE 8

Thai Top Ten, 9986 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge was not able to identify the “big six” foodborne illnesses and their associated symptoms; no hand soap at handsink; observed heavy build-up on soda nozzle and dirt/mildew build-up on ice machine; temperature of noodles prepared at 11 a.m. that morning is elevated; temperatures of chicken and bean sprouts in the prep unit on the cookline are elevated; dish machine bleach sanitizer is measuring over 200 ppm; accelerant jelly for starting the wok grills is unlabeled in a single-service cup; salt, sugar and flour throughout the kitchen also are unlabeled; bulk flour in dry storage is uncovered and condiments and spices on rack in bar area are uncovered; observed wet wiping cloths sitting out on prep tops; knives incorrectly stored in between low boy and prep table; plastic bins are stacked wet; low boy/reach-in units have torn gaskets; heavy ice build-up found in freezer; cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; facility needs to obtain bleach test strips; sides of equipment, windowsill above sinks on back wall, bottom of bar, low boys, floor fans, and racks and gaskets on cooling units need cleaning; floors of the walk-in cooler, fans in walk-in and reach-in, and floor drains are dirty with grime, dust and food debris.

Cheng Du Chinese Restaurant, 9503-C W. Broad Street – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

JUNE 9

Fruit Bowl, 4204-A Eubank Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility does not have a certified food protection manager; juices are not adequately labeled.

Burger King, 5217 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: no paper towels at the handsink; bacon oven has grease build-up; lettuce and tomatoes on the cookline are not marked with time per time control policy; to-go cups on front line are not stored inverted; lights are out near mopsink and dry storage closet; bottom of shakes low boy, gaskets and top surface are dirty; floor around mopsink is dirty; fan guard in walk-in cooler is dusty; observed milk leak in walk-in cooler and loose nuggets/hashbrowns in the walk-in freezer.

JUNE 10

VFW Post 8529, 1501 E. Old Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility does not have a certified food protection manager; temperature of burger next to the grill is too low; beans in reach-in don’t have a date mark; observed ice build-up in both chest freezers; sides of fryer and floor near the fryer have grease build-up.

Artisans by Alyah Snacks Bakery & Café, 3302 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility does not have a certified food protection manager; no paper towels at the handsink; to-go trays are stored uninverted; observed rugs in the food prep area.

China King Chinese Restaurant, 4362 S. Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: gaskets on low boy are torn; cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; ceiling tiles are stained beyond repair.

Chick-fil-A, 1529 N. Parham Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of chicken in the prep table is too low; observed cut romaine lettuce placed in deep plastic tubs, covered and stacked in the walk-in, as well as full tubs in kitchen during the prep process (work in smaller quantities); sugar bin incorrectly stored under insect light; grease filter paper is unprotected in the storeroom; observed build-up on double boilers for soup.

JUNE 11

Sushi Hibachi Bistro, 10490 Ridgefield Parkway – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

The Steele Grille, 1145 Gaskins Road – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

JUNE 14

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, 11829 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hot water dish machine is not sanitizing dishes because the water is not hot enough; observed build-up in soda gun nozzle at the bar; tongs and ladles hanging in the food prep area have food debris on them; temperature of cooked pasta in drawer at the cookline is elevated; person in charge states that tomatoes and lettuce at salad unit are on time control, but time was not tracked and no written policy was provided; chemical spray bottles are unlabeled; observed missing temperatures on cooling logs for two recent dates; small flies found in the dish area; fry boats at the cookline and to-go containers at the bar are not protected; one light is out under each hood; walk-in fan guard is rusty; observed leak at the pre-soak dispenser, and water and wet towels in the bottom of the refrigerator unit at the bar; pass thru shelving is dusty; observed grease on equipment at the cookline (fryers in particular) and debris on the walk-in refrigerator racks; found an abundance of cardboard on the ground in the dumpster area; observed a build-up of grease on hood filters above the grill.

Noodles & Company, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of pulled pork, noodles and portioned chicken are elevated because proper cooling methods were not followed; veggie broth is unlabeled; a box of popsicles found inside the ice machine; lids are not stored inverted; cardboard on lower shelf needs removing; burned out lights under dish hood; pasta buckets have build-up in corners and along the edge; spray hose faucet and equipment wheels are dirty; floor surrounding rethermalizer, pipes to the dish machine, pipes under the three-compartment sink and floor under the ice machine need cleaning.
