A look at how some Henrico restaurants fared on their most recent health department inspections.

NOV. 10

Five Guys Burgers & Fries, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of tomatoes and lettuce in the prep top unit are elevated; sandwich unit in the front cook line is inoperable; observed low grouting throughout the facility.

Kingdom Kidz Academy, 4820 Finlay Street – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: facility does not have test strips.

NOV. 12

Boxed + Bagged RVA, 10614 Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: bottle of cleaner incorrectly stored on the same shelf as clean equipment; observed single-service items stored uninverted; cardboard is being used to store miscellaneous food supplies.

Café Soulé, 3302 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: tomatoes, seafood salad and cheese are missing date labels; observed a leak under the three-compartment sink and at the faucet; observed debris around corners of the facility; grease and dead bugs found behind the cook line.

Bowl America—Eastern, 5018 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of tuna salad and lettuce in the low boy unit are elevated; tuna salad, deli meat, sauce, cheese and lettuce are missing date labels; observed a mold-like substance on racks in the walk-in.

NOV. 13

Twin Hickory Tavern, 11351 Nuckols Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: old residues found on can opener blade; pink film found on ice machine kick plate; observed a bin on the lower storage shelf at the cook line entry that had utensils with debris on them; observed sliced cheese, pimento cheese and boiled eggs improperly cold-holding in the two prep tops along the cook line; observed a small fly near the drink station and another at the bar; metal racks in dry storage and in the walk-in are rusty; one bulb is out under the hood system; one ceiling tile is badly peeling; some coving near the two-door freezer is broken; observed cracked floor tiles in front of the walk-in; walls throughout the kitchen are soiled; observed small areas of soil accumulation under the bar and cook line equipment.

Roxberry Juice Co., 6976 Forest Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility does not have a certified food protection manager certificate; observed an employee wash and rinse dirty dishes and then put on gloves without washing hands to handle clean dishware; observed debris on orange juicer, inside of measuring cups, and on cookie cutters stored clean in containers; chlorine at three-compartment sink is greater than 200 ppm; muffins in front of cash register with to-go items did not have a label; observed rubber scrapers stored uninverted in prep area; observed wet nesting on plastic containers next to the ice machine; walk-in freezer fan is not working on the left side; observed heavy accumulation of ice on top of the walk-in freezer and on the floor; cutting board on the prep top unit is heavily scratched; observed debris in the microwave, on shelves and in utensil containers throughout the kitchen, on racks next to the ice machine, and on floors throughout.

First Watch, 8621 Quioccasin Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of hot water at handsink on the end of the cook line is not hot enough; observed ice cubes and pans in handsinks on the cook line and in prep area (handsinks are for handwashing only); observed debris on slicer in the prep area, on tongs and slicer, and on spatula stored clean in the dish area; observed commercially-packaged soup being incorrectly reheated in steam well instead of stove top, and the soup temperature was too low; temperatures of beans, broccoli soup, cheddar soup, tomato soup, sausage and tomatillo soup are too low; temperatures of hard boiled eggs, arugula, smoked salmon, chicken, cheese and sausage on line were elevated; temperatures of chicken, kale, melon, roast beef, ham, turkey and salsa in prep top unit were elevated; goat cheese incorrectly stored at room temperature; observed spatula and utensils stored improperly in standing water; observed wet nesting of pans in the prep areas and on a rack on cook line; to-go soup cups on the cook line stored uninverted; cutting boards are heavily scratched; observed debris on wheels and in between equipment on the cook line, on pipes in hood system, on top of dish machine, in utensil containers on service station, on racks on cook line, and in oven on the cook line; handsink at service station is slow to drain; observed sprayer nozzle under pressure at mopsink; observed debris on floors under equipment and stains on walls throughout the kitchen; observed dust on fan guards in the walk-in cooler and debris on the floor of walk-in freezer; observed low grouting near the service station; multiple light bulbs are out on the hood system.
