A look at how some Henrico restaurants fared on their most recent health department inspections.

OCT. 14

& Pizza, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Anita’s Bakery, 9027 Quioccasin Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility does not have a certified food protection manager; handwash signage is missing in the employee restroom; observed raw chicken stored incorrectly next to hard-boiled eggs, raw pork stored incorrectly next to deli turkey, and raw shrimp stored incorrectly next to ready-to-eat foods in the reach-in unit (raw foods should be stored on the bottom); cream cheese on tiramisu in the display case and raw eggs and raw bacon in the reach-in unit have elevated temperatures; observed utensils stored uninverted in containers in the dish area and on prep table; air temperature of reach-in unit in the back of facility is elevated, likely due to a gap greater than one inch on the hood system; cutting boards are heavily scratched; mopsink is dirty; light bulbs missing on the hood system.

Zorba’s Greek-Italian Cuisine, 9068 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed containers of mussels without shell stock tag attached; observed mold build-up on nozzle of soda gun at the bar; mold-like build-up found on the ice bin in back kitchen; temperatures of chicken, tomatoes and beef in the prep unit are elevated; observed tuna thawing in ROP; multiple wet wiping cloths are on prep surfaces; observed torn gaskets on units; two-door reach-in and small reach-in are not maintaining the correct temperature; observed build-up of grime and dirt on gaskets of units, equipment handles and on sides of equipment on the cook line.

The Patron Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, 5990 Audubon Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed multiple open drinks on prep surfaces throughout the facility; observed medication stored with plates over the hot holding unit; handsink in dish area and handsink by the patio door are missing soap; low grouting throughout the facility is causing stand water.

Maggiano’s Little Italy, 11800 W Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: temperature of hot water is too low at the handsink next to the marinara station, at handsinks on the cook line and in the women’s restroom; no employee handwash signage was observed in the women’s restroom or at the banquet room handsink; high temperature dish machine is inoperable; observed debris on a colander stored clean above the three-compartment sink; the temperature of mozzarella, blue cheese, lemon butter and chicken stored in prep top units on the cook line and salad station were elevated; the temperature of raw steaks in refrigerated drawers and bacon on the cook line were elevated; proper cooling methods were not used with chicken, sausage or tomatoes in the prep top unit; proper cooling methods were not used with pasta in the refrigerated drawers on the cook line or pasta in the prep area; single-service items were incorrectly stored on the floor; cutting boards in dish areas and prep areas are heavily scratched and stained; observed rusty racks next to the three-compartment sink; some light bulbs are not working at the hood system; facility needs to obtain a high temperature testing device for the high temperature dish machine; observed leak from faucet at the prep sink in the prep area; observed a trash bag tied to pipes under the three-compartment sink in the dish area.

OCT. 20

Taco Bell, 9420 W. Broad Street – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed dried food on utensils over the three-compartment sink.

Chop’t Creative Salad, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: temperatures of falafel, broccoli, fried chicken tenders and chicken on the line were elevated; observed wet nesting of metal pans in the prep area; observed leak under the three-compartment sink.

OCT. 21

Five Guys, 12210 W. Broad Street – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Hilton Garden Inn, 441 International Center Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed salmon in a vacuum sealed bag completely thawed; observed wet mop heads in the mopsink (hang mops to dry).

Courtyard Richmond Airport, 5400 Williamsburg Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: did not observe soap at front or back handsink.

McDonald’s, 4423 S. Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed build-up of pink mildew on shield of ice machine and on shield of smoothie machine; observed build-up of grime on gaskets and debris in units.

Chanello’s Pizza, 10166 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: facility does not have a certified food protection manager; pizza make table temperature is elevated and the unit needs servicing; temperatures of cheese, ham, wings and sausage were elevated.
