A look at how some Henrico restaurants fared on their most recent health department inspections.

SEPT. 2

Arby’s, 5220 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: multiple dented cans found on rack under the oven; observed mold buildup in tea nozzles; liquid cheese in hot holding unit was not hot enough; observed tomatoes, chicken and lettuce in the prep unit and salads in the salad case have elevated temperatures; observed multiple insect traps on the floor; back side of equipment is soiled with flies, dirt and grime; observed an accumulation of dust, dirt and food residue on fans in the walk-in, sides and back of all prep units, gaskets and racks throughout the facility.

Junoon Indian Cuisine, 7801 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed raw shell eggs stored improperly above ready-to-eat foods in walk-in cooler; dish machine has a low sani concentration; multiple prepared foods in the walk-in cooler do not have date marks; observed drain flies throughout the kitchen.

TGI Friday’s, 4459 S. Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed a buildup of mold in the chute of both ice machines and a buildup of mold and grime on soda nozzles at the bar; observed salmon, steak and cheese in drawers under the grill at elevated temperatures; multiple small flies found in the bar area; observed torn gaskets and rusty racks on the cook line; multiple doors missing on cook line equipment; front plate of ice machine is missing, exposing the wires; non-food contact surfaces need cleaning including all equipment on cook line, gaskets in units, pipes under the three-compartment sink and racks in the dry storage area; observed low grouting, cracked tiles and missing coving tiles.

Gusto Latino, 2743 Hungary Spring Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed low sanitizer in three-compartment sink.

SEPT. 3

Publix, 3460 Pump Road – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Frida’s Mexican Restaurant, 2903 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed raw beef and raw chicken stored incorrectly; chicken and vegetables, cheese, beans and salsa in walk-in have elevated temperatures; medication found on a shelf with clean plates.

J. Rocco’s Pizza, 2500 Gayton Centre Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: can opener found dirty; no date found on fresh mozzarella and wings; observed rust on chemical shelf; can opener holder and edges have buildup; mop sink is dirty; observed a hole in a cove tile with exposed foam along the coving edge.

SEPT. 8

Desi Street Food, 2610 Tuckernuck Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed an employee put on gloves, answer cell phone and then prep food without washing hands or changing gloves; no date label found on tofu, potatoes, curry, chickpeas and tomatoes in the walk-in; observed unlabeled chemical spray bottles in the dining room and front counter; observed scoop handles in touch with food in containers in the low boy; racks throughout the kitchen need cleaning; observed dust on fans in the walk-in; observed food splatter on walls and heavy dust buildup on the ceiling; observed food and grime buildup in drain of three-compartment sink and grease and dust buildup on hood filters.

Tropical Smoothie Café, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed debris greater than one day old on utensils stored clean and vegetable slicer; pre-portioned spinach and kale mixture have elevated temperatures; observed cleaners incorrectly stored over food and next to single-service box on a rack in the smoothie station; to-go cups stored uninverted; observed torn gasket in low boy unit in the prep area and rusty racks throughout the prep and smoothie stations; cutting boards in prep area and above the three-compartment sink are heavily stained and scratched; debris observed on racks, gaskets in prep area, on ice bin, shelves and outsides of equipment; handsinks in the facility are slow to drain; observed debris on floors throughout the kitchen; observed dust and stains on the ceiling and ceiling vents throughout the kitchen.

SEPT. 9

Roma’s Italian Restaurant, 325 E. Williamsburg Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed grime buildup on racks in the walk-in and on gaskets of units.

Pizza Hut, 5100 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed 0 ppm of sanitizer at the dish machine; water found in bottom of pizza prep and nearby pizza prep units; non-food contact surfaces need cleaning including racks throughout and inside and on sides of equipment on the cook line, fryers, gaskets and dish machine; observed heavy grime buildup on dish racks that go into the dish machine; observed grease on the floor by fryers; dirty water and mold buildup found under units mainly behind pizza prep; observed food splatter on walls and dust on ceiling tiles; observed missing coving tiles and cracked floor tiles; floor by the freezer is coming up.

Westport Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, 7300 Forest Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed debris greater than one day old on tongs hanging above prep table; quaternary ammonium in sanibucket and three-compartment sink is elevated; proper cooling method not used with reconstituted cheese in walk-in cooler; cutting board on shelf under the prep table and on the line in the back kitchen are heavily scratched; observed debris on convection oven, on sides of equipment, on bottom of reach-in freezer on the cookline and under fryer on the cookline; heavy debris found on floor under the cookline stove and dust on the walk-in cooler’s fanguard; light bulbs in the hood system are missing.
