A look at how some Henrico restaurants fared on their most recent health department inspections.

AUG. 19

Bosna Restaurant, 8030 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: bulk bin of flour isn’t labeled; observed paper and cardboard lining shelves throughout the kitchen (subject to splash); a light bulb is out under the hood.

AUG. 21

AB & R Catering, LLC, 601 N. Parham Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed chipping paint on walls behind the prep table and next to the stove behind racks.

Chick-fil-A, 4443 S. Laburnum Avenue – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed mop sink faucet leaning.

AUG. 24

Breaker’s Sports Grille, 9127 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: no supervisors or managers are certified food protection managers; observed employee in kitchen touch his facemask several times with gloves on and then proceeded to handle food and clean dishes; soap is not available at bar handsink; observed grease residue and food debris on containers and other equipment stored in wire racks; several containers of prepared food and deli meats in the walk-in cooler were past their expiration dates; prep unit cutting board is heavily scratched and stained; wood shelves above the three-compartment sink and in the storage area are not sealed or painted; observed mildew and grime accumulation in three-compartment sink and hand wash sinks in the kitchen; observed grease, dust and food build-up on surfaces of the grill, portable fans and inside the reach-in freezer; water and grime found inside beer keg coolers; observed condensate water draining on the floor under the ice machine; several ceiling tiles are in disrepair and heavily stained; observed grease and grime on floors under and behind equipment; walls are heavily stained.

AUG. 25

Takara Ramen, 9468 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed bucket and other items in the handskink by cookline (handsink is for handwashing only); handsinks in bathroom are missing soap; observed raw foods stored incorrectly above ready to eat foods; corn, chicken and cooked vegetables in make table on the cookline were found at elevated temperatures; soy bean paste under prep table was found at an elevated temperature; chemical spray bottles throughout the facility were not labeled; observed tuna and other fish product improperly thawed; observed heavily scratched and stained cutting boards throughout the facility; observed build-up of dust and grime on the fans of units and a build-up of grease and grime on the sides of equipment and gaskets.

Panda Express, 1782 N. Parham Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed food debris greater than one day old on a knife and vegetable dicer in the prep area; observed wet nesting of metal pans and plastic lexan pans; knives were stored uninverted on the cookline; cutting boards are heavily scratched; observed low grouting throughout the facility.

AUG. 26

Glory Days Grill of Gleneagles, 10466 Ridgefield Parkway – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Mona Lounge, 2442 Old Brick Road – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Gojo Ethiopian Restaurant, 10188 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed utensils stored in a bin with debris; observed mold in the bar soda gun nozzle; gaskets in the reach-in are badly torn; lid of the bar ice machine is broken; observed and felt a sticky residue on the top shelf of the rack next to the cookline and reach-in fridge; observed a wicker/straw weaved pad used with the injera bread during heating (smooth, durable and cleanable material must be used).

Plaza Azteca Restaurantes Mexicanos, 6623 W. Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed an employee washing hands at the prep sink instead of the handsink; observed an employee not washing hands after adjusting face mask on cookline; observed an employee not washing hands for at least 20 seconds at handsink; paper towel dispenser in back prep area isn’t working properly; handsink in back prep area is missing handwash signage; found food debris on grinders/shredder at prep table near cookline; queso in hot box and chicken on the line were not hot enough; raw chicken, raw beef and cooked beef in refrigerated draws on the cookline had elevated temperatures; lettuce in prep top unit on the cookline was not cooled properly; observed uncovered salt on guacamole cart, tortilla bowls on cookline and foods in dry storage; found foods on the floor of walk-in freezer and margarita mix on the floor of walk-in beer cooler; observed wet nesting of metal pans in back prep area; observed uninverted utensils in the dish area and in service line in back kitchen; multiple refrigeration units have torn gaskets; rack storing margarita mix is rusty; light bulb at hood filter is not working; observed gap greater than one inch at hood filter on cookline; observed heavily scratched cutting boards in back kitchen; observed debris/grease on shelves in prep area, under fryer in back kitchen, on hood filters, on wheels of the fryer in prep area, and in the soda gun holder at the bar; observed debris on the wall next to soda dispensers and dust on fan guards in walk-in cooler; observed debris and ice accumulation on floors of walk-in cooler; hole found in ceiling above soda dispensers in the back of the facility.
