Following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “priority” or “priority foundation” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “core” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.
JUNE 3
Hooters of Richmond, 7912 West Broad Street – Three priority violations reported (queso dip and chicken nuggets observed at incorrect temperatures, raw shrimp observed at incorrect temperature, sanitizer solution in the dish machine observed too highly concentrated) and two priority foundation violations reported (food debris and residue observed on several containers and utensils; towel dispenser at back hand sink observed not working).
Subway, 11234 Patterson Avenue – One priority violation reported (turkey overfilled on line).
JUNE 4
Travinia Italian Kitchen, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive #800 – Three priority violations reported (cooked beef, pasta, unsalted butter that had been left out for 40 minutes; chicken, meat sauce, angel hair pasta, spinach, arugula, raw chicken, unsalted butter that had been stored at room temperature for a day; raw chicken and cheese observed at incorrect temperatures, no chlorine observed in the chemical dish machine, soap observed stored next to salt on dry storage shelf and chemical spray bottle observed next to salt) and three priority foundation violations reported (food debris more than a day old observed on slicer, pasta colanders, tongs and the inside of the kettle pot, hot water temperatures in restrooms observed too low, food bits observed in the hand sink in the prep area, plastic Lexan pan observed at the hand sink near the cook line and knife observed stored on the hand sink in the service station).
KFC/Long John Silver’s, 8810 Patterson Avenue – Two priority violations reported (filets in warming cabinets at too low of a temperature; spray hose attached to the mop sink faucet without the proper device for a continuous pressure spray nozzle).
Bar Louie Richmond, 11788 West Broad Street – Five priority violations reported (including employee observed handling phone with gloves on and continuing to prep food without removing gloves and washing hands; raw ahi tuna observed stored over lettuce in fridge; breading mixture observed stored in soiled container) and three priority foundation violations reported (queso, cooked vegetables and other time-and-temperature control foods observed without dates; food residue observed on dishes in storage, on knives in food holders and on scoop in dishwashing area; and poor oversight of employee activity in kitchen and poor handwashing, improper cold holding and improperly sanitized equipment).
Papa John’s, 8903 Patterson Avenue – One priority violation reported (Philly steak found with expiration date of June 2, but the seven-day shelf life counts the prep date as day one) and two priority foundation violations reported (thermometer inside walk-in is no longer accurate, two spray bottles of chemical found unlabeled).
JUNE 5
Arby’s, 9080 West Broad Street – No priority or priority foundation violations reported.
Wendy’s, 9116 West Broad Street – Two priority violations reported (observed foods with time being used as a control but no time listed anywhere, chemical spray bottles observed stored directly above boxes of opened single-use gloves).
KFC, 9000 West Broad Street – Two priority foundation violations reported (employee with polished or artificial nails observed preparing sandwiches and orders without gloves, towels and green scrubby observed in a hand sink).
Gracie’s, 391 Azalea Avenue – One priority violation reported (potato salad in display case observed at incorrect temperature).
The Daily Kitchen & Bar, 12201 West Broad Street – Three priority violations reported (chicken and wet rice noodles found at incorrect temperatures; raw scallops, chorizo, pork stock and grits found vacuum sealed, which is not an approved health department procedure; and the latter three did not have dates, tofu observed being marinated in vacuum sealed bags with no dates, equipment food-contact surfaces and utensils were not sanitized after cleaning because of improper operation of the mechanical warewashing machine; concentration of chemical sanitizer in the sanitize basin observed too low) and six priority foundation violations reported (pork, mushroom gravy, turkey, pinto beans, lentil soup and tofu observed without dates, food establishment had not obtained a variance before engaging in a food processing method — fermenting hot sauce — for which a variance is required; slicer observed with food debris; working containers of spray bottle at bar observed not properly labeled; 11 dented cans of lentils found on stock shelf, food employees were not informed of their responsibility to report to the person in charge information concerning their health and activities as they relate to diseases transmitted through food). And here they gave such types of games as applications and see online friv games, that are played on the devices and gadgets, such as laptops, mobile phones, and other ones. Many of these games can be found on various websites, and some of them are free.
Reynolds Café, 6641 West Broad Street – One priority violation reported (romaine lettuce, milk, cheese tray, raw shell egg and air temperature of reach-in drink unit observed at incorrect temperatures) and one priority foundation violation reported (no hot water observed at hand sink, manager said she had shut off valve and was only using hot water at three-compartment sink).
Long John Silver’s, 2206 East Laburnum Avenue – No priority or priority foundation violations reported.
JUNE 6
Renee’s Evil Eats, 5956 Brook Road – No violations reported.
Queen Teas New Orleans Seafood, 6404 Horsepen Road – One priority violation reported (raw oysters observed stored next to raw chicken in reach-in unit, rather than by cook time hierarchy) and one priority foundation violation reported (food debris greater than a day old observed on lemon squeezer).
