Short Pump Pour House, 3438 Pump Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning up vomit/diarrhea; observed person in charge garnishing drinks with fruit with bare hands; bar sink doesn’t have paper towels; ice machine in kitchen is dirty; temperature of taco meat in walk-in cooler is elevated because of improper cooling methods (deep pan with lid on); fish fillets are thawing in reduced oxygen packaging; observed small flies in the kitchen; several racks in the kitchen are lined with absorbent materials; small cutting boards have deep scratches; facility couldn’t provide test strips; several items/areas are dirty (interior of prep units, beer line in walk-in refrigerator, floor of walk-in, vent in walk-in, racks holding dry ingredients, fryer baskets, bottom of beer chest, and ceiling vents); bottles on drying rack have old, stuck-on labels; light shield in kitchen is broken; mop isn’t hung to air dry; hood filter is greasy.

Rose Marie Inn, 8923 Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink near three-compartment sink is missing hand soap; bacon in beer fridge and bacon in reach-in cooler are moldy; dried food debris found on slicer; temperatures of bacon and butter in beer fridge are elevated; air temperature of this unit is elevated; chicken, mac, potato and tuna salads in prep unit are all past their expiration dates; no date marks found on prepared meat in reach-in cooler or opened sour cream in lowboy; roach spray found near hand sink; several boxes of beer are stored directly on floor; wire racks inside lowboy unit and beer fridge are rusty; long white cutting board is heavily scratched and stained brown; several items/areas are dirty (bottom of reach-in cooler, bottom of lowboy unit, sides of grill, fan above three-compartment sink, tracks of beer fridge, and floors throughout kitchen); ceiling panel is torn near three-compartment sink; there are stains and ripped paint on walls; there are stains on door in dry storage area; floor tiles throughout kitchen are cracked; pipes under sinks and behind mini fridge at bar and ceiling panels at bar are dusty; observed grime buildup on suppression nozzles; mop isn’t hung to air dry.

Portabella’s Restaurant, 2627 New Market Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: no handwash signage posted at beverage station hand sink; temperatures of chicken, raw chicken and cheese in prep table are elevated; facility doesn’t have a working food thermometer; to-go containers are not stored inverted; fry basket is in disrepair; there is grease buildup on sides of hot line equipment and hood filters; dumpster lids were left open; ceiling throughout kitchen is stained.

Balkan Restaurant, 8905 Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge couldn’t provide written procedures; employee drink found on top cutting board; raw chicken stored above raw beef and raw eggs stored over ready-to-eat foods in reach-in cooler; temperature of sliced cheese in prep unit is elevated; menu doesn’t contain a consumer advisory for items that are cooked to order (shish kebab, schnitzel, grill platter); silverware at bar is not stored inverted; wire racks in reach-in cooler are rusty; lowboy unit near reach-in cooler isn’t working and is being used as storage; observed grime buildup on racks where microwaves are; observed several small cracks in floor tiles throughout the kitchen.

Hungry Eyes Jamaican Restaurant & Bar, 201 Towne Center West Boulevard – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: an employee cleaned a cutting board but didn’t sanitize it; take-out containers are stored on a dirty shelf; several cutting boards are deeply scratched and stained; several shelves are lined with absorbent materials; facility couldn’t provide test strips; several items/areas are dirty (trash area, racks holding dry ingredients, drip pan under water heater, rolling rack, fryer baskets, in between cooking units, and hood over stove and oven); mop isn’t hung to air dry.

Domoishi, 1080 Virginia Center Parkway – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: observed staff storing dishes in hand sink; food debris found on slicers; teriyaki chicken is cooling in deep, tightly-covered pans; tuna is thawing in reduced oxygen packaging; fly strips are placed over food prep area in kitchen; food is stored directly on walk-in cooler and freezer floors; rice scoops, rice paddles and ladels are stored in ambient temperature standing water; cutting boards are scratched and stained; reach-in cooler door gaskets are dirty; sides of hot line equipment and hood system are greasy.

True Taste 1, 1090 Virginia Center Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: there is mold inside the ice machine and the upper interior is also very dusty; dried food debris found inside microwave; no date marks found on cooked noodles, pork or egg rolls; orange peels are stored next to tools and a bottle of dish soap in the kitchen; food is stored directly on walk-in freezer floor; temperatures of tofu, lo mein, pork and wonton in walk-in cooler are elevated; walk-in cooler wire racks are rusty; sweet and sour chicken is being stored in cardboard boxes used for raw chicken thighs; egg cartons are being reused throughout the kitchen; observed heavy grease buildup on sides of hot line cooking equipment; food stains and food debris found on meat slicer; walk-in cooler fan guards and wire racks are moldy; several areas/items are dirty (reach-in cooler, bulk containers, and shelf under camera monitor); walk-in cooler and freezer door gaskets are dirty and stained black; there are food stains and food debris on walls throughout the kitchen; ceiling tiles throughout kitchen are dusty and have food stains on them; there is heavy grease accumulation on cook line hood filters.

Bistro 804, 443 North Ridge Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility couldn’t provide parasite destruction documentation from smoked salmon supplier; several cleaning spray bottles are unlabeled; bulk ingredient containers are unlabeled; gaskets are torn on lowboy freezer and reach-in cooler downstairs; metal wires are bending on fryer baskets; walk-in cooler wire racks are rusty; observed dust and food debris buildup on surfaces of wire storage racks, fan systems in walk-in cooler, electrical cords and boxes, and under grill; floor in upstairs kitchen and floor in downstairs prep area are no longer smooth and easily cleanable; wall is damaged at back door downstairs.

Chick-Fil-A at Short Pump Town Center, 11800 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: open cup of water found in kitchen area; one hand sink in the kitchen is out-of-order; brown powder on prep shelf is unlabeled; rack in raw-holding cooler is dirty; sides of cooking equipment are greasy; mop isn’t hung to air dry; floors and walls surrounding cooking equipment are greasy.

Starbucks Coffee Company, 11716 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning up vomit/diarrhea; hand sink in kitchen is partially blocked by a trash can; several areas/items are dirty (ice machine in kitchen, drain under three-compartment sink, racks holding dry ingredients, racks in reach-in standing refrigerators, drying racks above dishwasher, rolling cart behind make counter, and interior of reach-in units in make area); small cutting board is heavily scratched and stained; mop isn’t hung to air dry.

Grapevine Restaurant, 11055 Three Chopt Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: food manager certification is expired; person in charge dumped water that raw fish was sitting in into a hand sink; bits of food found in bar hand sink; no handwash signage is posted at cook line hand sink; facility couldn’t provide parasite destruction documentation from salmon supplier; chlorine level at dish machine is too low; menu doesn’t contain a consumer advisory for salmon that is cooked to order; box of beef stored directly on walk-in freezer floor; two ice buckets found uninverted with water in the bottom; a fryer cabinet is unable to fully close; wire racks are rusted in beer fridge and black fridge; observed grime buildup inside fryer cabinets and wire racks at cook line; there are cracks in the floor in large storage room; there are holes in the ceiling at cook line; there is an open hole in walk-in freezer door where the handle used to be; floor in walk-in freezer is bumpy with open crevices.
