Caffespresso, 1127 Gaskins Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: several bottles in kitchen are unlabeled; silverware is not stored inverted to protect from contamination.

Tava Cuisine of India, 3406 Pump Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: no handwash signs are posted in restrooms; hand sink by small walk-in doesn’t have paper towels; temperatures of tomatoes and cabbage are elevated because they are sitting out at room temperature; multiple pans of biryani were sitting out on the counter for three hours with no written time or policy; chicken and paneer made this morning were placed straight into prep without cooling first; chicken and goat are thawing under prep table; the only light in dry storage is out.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, 11301 West Broad Street – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Panda Express, 11286 West Broad Street – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed a leak at front hand sink and at mop sink faucet.

Chicago’s Pizza With A Twist, 3641-F Cox Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: wire storage racks in walk-in cooler are rusted and dirty; observed old labels and glue residue on surfaces of containers.

Desi Bites, 3621-C Cox Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: three-compartment sink doesn’t have enough chlorine when tested; temperatures of lamb, chicken, rice and veggies in walk-in are elevated; observed live and dead roaches throughout restaurant; cutting boards are heavily stained; sides of equipment need cleaning; racks in units, dry storage and dish area need cleaning; there is low grouting throughout the facility; observed food debris under cook line and in dry storage; walls have food splatters; grease found on hood.

Eggs Up Grill, 2238 John Rolfe Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: some dishes on clean dish rack still have food debris on them; lime peels found in container on clean rack; temperatures of home fries, sausage gravy and holly sauce in hot holding units are too low; lowboy units along service line have torn gaskets.

HogsHead Café, 8902-D West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: pink residue found on shield of upstairs ice machine; temperature of raw chicken sitting out on table is elevated; single cutting boards are heavily scratched; shelves in expo area are not smooth and easily cleanable; observed limescale buildup inside dish machine and on nozzles; there is a leak at the water main nozzle behind floor mixer; observed heavy buildup of dust on ceiling panels and vents; cement floor in back prep area and at bar is no longer smooth and easily cleanable; several light fixtures above prep line and in dishwash area are missing shields.

Golden Corral Restaurant, 4050 Gaskins Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of fried okra at grill line and pizza at pizza line are too low; temperatures of pico de gallo at taco station and chocolate soft serve in hopper are elevated; some Lexan pan lids are cracked; dessert oven is wedged on a rock; walk-in cooler racks have heavy buildup and need cleaning; floor grout is worn; there are cracked tiles throughout; floors throughout need cleaning, especially under cook line.

Waffle House, 8400 Brook Road – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

New Asian Panda, 10430 Ridgefield Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge’s certified food protection manager certificate is expired; open drink mug stored on soup warmer; employee failed to wash hands after washing equipment and sweeping floor and before continuing food prep; bag of herbs and a container found inside hand sink; raw chicken stored next to uncovered ready-to-eat chicken in walk-in cooler; employee failed to sanitize bowls after washing them; egg rolls, noodles and chicken do not have date marks; chicken wings and pieces for which time rather than temperature is being used as a control is not properly labeled with discard time; similar looking spices/ingredients have been removed from their original containers and are unlabeled; in-use knives stored in dirty crevice of prep tables; to-go containers are stored on a dirty surface; prep and single cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed buildup of food debris, grease and grime on surfaces of all storage shelves, counters, fryers, broilers and ingredient bins; observed buildup of food debris and grime on floors throughout kitchen.

Murat’s Institute & Café, 12456 Gayton Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: dish plate tester is not reaching the required surface temp after several runs through the dish machine; observed food debris inside reach-in cooler and utensil drawer.

The Cocky Rooster, 12171-D West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge thinks there is an employee health policy but couldn’t provide it; person in charge is not aware of policy for cleanup; observed parcooked chicken (this requires approval from the health department); temperature of cooked chicken prepared yesterday is still elevated; temperatures of raw chicken and slurry at batter station are elevated; temperature of cooked chicken in walk-in cooler is elevated because of improper cooling methods (covered in deep containers).

Virginia House of Soul Cocktail Grill, 3406 Mechanicsville Turnpike – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: bar hand sink doesn’t have paper towels or hand soap; dish machine isn’t sanitizing dishes (chemicals aren’t priming); temperatures of chicken and pork chops in lowboy cooler are elevated because of improper cooling methods (covered tightly and double stacked); cleaning solution bottles for mechanical dish machine are unlabled; observed several fruit flies at bar area; cooler door rubber gaskets are dirty throughout kitchen; observed grease buildup on sides of hot line equipment.

Wendy’s, 8300 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: lettuce, tomatoes and cheese are being held on a time control policy but time isn’t being tracked; observed grease buildup on sides and back of fryers; observed debris under racks of dry storage and other equipment; hood filters throughout are dusty.
