Samurai Sushi Restaurant, 11391-A Nuckols Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink on cook line doesn’t have hand soap; dish machine isn’t sanitizing; fish incorrectly thawing in reduced oxygen packaging; personal beverage bottle improperly stored in ice bin, which is used for customer beverages; an employee is wearing a bracelet; single and prep cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed food debris on wire storage racks in walk-in cooler and on shelves storing spices.

Wood and Iron Short Pump LLC, 12288 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge unable to provide documentation to verify that employees have received training on their illness reporting responsibilities; employee beverage incorrectly stored on cook line; employee placed raw beef on the grill with gloved hands and proceeded to other food prep tasks without changing gloves and washing hands; raw chicken incorrectly stored next to ready-to-eat pickles; raw burgers incorrectly stored next to cheese; observed food residue on the dicer; temperatures of wings and sauces are elevated; person in charge states that eggs can be served undercooked if requested but the menu doesn’t contain a disclosure for this; observed several large flies in the kitchen; wet wiping cloth left out on counter instead of being stored in sanitizer bucket; cutting board at prep refrigerator is heavily scratched; mop sink faucet doesn’t have a dual check valve installed; dumpster lid and door were left open; a couple of personal bags incorrectly stored on shelves with clean equipment.

Hardee’s, 3815 Mechanicsville Turnpike – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: tub of moldy onions found in walk-in cooler; observed mold under self-service soda machine dispensers; wire racks throughout kitchen are rusty; observed dried food debris, grease and grime buildup on sides and top of fry station cooking equipment, wire racks throughout kitchen, sides and doors of refrigeration units and walk-in units, inside burger freezer, refrigeration unit gaskets throughout kitchen and on walk-in cooler fan guards; oven area hoods are dusty; deep fryer area hoods are greasy; observed grease and grime buildup on walls and floors behind flattop grill station and deep fryer station; there is grime buildup and mold on mop station floors and walls; ceiling tiles throughout kitchen are stained; ceiling vents are stained and moldy.

The Melting Pot, 9704 Gayton Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of salsa in small prep unit is elevated; single cutting boards are heavily scratched; observed food debris and mold on storage racks in walk-in cooler; floor in walk-in freezer is no longer smooth and easily cleanable; wall near mop sink and bottom of walls in walk-in cooler are rusted.

Torque Club at Richmond Raceway, 600 East Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: garnish containers at the bar are not clean to sight or touch; light bulb in hood system is burned out.

Meat Wagon BBQ, 3800 Talley Road – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Chili’s Grill & Bar, 9950 Brook Road – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant, 10099 Brook Road – No violations reported during a follow-up inspection.

KanPai Japanese Steakhouse, 11964 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed employees rinsing their hands in three-compartment sink (use hand sink) and not using soap; temperatures of five bins of rice prepared yesterday in the walk-in cooler are elevated; improper cooling methods observed for bins of rice in cooler (covered and stacked); tuna incorrectly thawing in reduced oxygen packaging; single and prep unit cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed food debris and grease residue on small equipment, wire storage racks in dishwash area and walk-in cooler, bulk ingredient bins and carts.

Cheesecake Factory, 11800 West Broad Street – The following violation was reported during a follow-up inspection: temperatures of corn, butter and rice in drawers are elevated.

Ray’s Other Place, 3061 Lauderdale Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: prep unit cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed dust and food debris buildup on wire storage racks and pizza oven.

Sticks Kebob Shop, 1700 Willow Lawn Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: improper cooling methods observed for tabouleh and hummus (tabouleh is in tightly covered deep pans and hummus is in aluminium pans, covered and stacked with cardboard); wall beside mop sink is peeling and has holes; wall behind knife holder is peeling.

Chop’t Creative Salad, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: dishes are not being sanitized properly (appears that the wash cycle doesn’t reach the required temperature); temperatures of chopped chicken and other prepped foods are elevated; temperatures of greens on display (kale, mixed, spinach) are elevated.

Pho Tay Do, 6328 Rigsby Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have a certified food protection manager; slicer has food debris; trash bag on cabinet shelf (find a cleanable alternative); pitted pot is not cleanable; reach-in shelves are rusty; small refrigerator gasket is torn; cook top drip tray and base of slicer are dirty.
