Maple Street Biscuit Company, 11657 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: moldy oranges and decomposing lemons found in the walk-in; interior plate of ice machine has a pink film; dishes on the drying rack still have food debris on them; observed flour residues on utensil storage containers in the dish area; open container of drain cleaner incorrectly stored on the steam table; hot pans of sausage improperly cooling in the walk-in (covered with lids); box of oranges incorrectly stored on walk-in floor; wiping cloths stored in a very dark and cloudy bucket of sanitizer solution; cutting boards have deep scratches and some stains; all non-food contact surfaces in the kitchen are soiled with either flour or batter (wire racks, gaskets, outsides/insides of equipment and rolling carts); metal wall panel behind cookline has old, dried batter drip marks running down it; walls and floor near back door, floors under equipment, and storage racks in kitchen are dark with soil; floor under the dishwasher is caked with grime; wall behind dishwasher is mildewy; walk-in cooler floor is filthy; floor drains are dirty; observed grease buildup in hood filters.

Redemption BBQ and Market, 3420 Lauderdale Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: a few containers of white powders are unlabeled; single-service paper boats and sauce cups are not stored inverted or covered; do not use a wooden block to store knives; observed debris on gaskets on a couple of cooler doors; observed dark buildup on wall at three-compartment sink; hood system is greasy.

Pizza Hut, 9020-B Quioccasin Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: back work table has been improperly propped up on rectangular pans (which are dirty); dish racks are deteriorating; grease caddy, interior of two-door unit, water heater and pipes are dirty; observed buildup inside dish machine; restroom door is open (door should be self-closing); walls and vents are dusty; walk-in door and electric conduit and boxes by oven are dirty; FRP behind shelf near restroom is loose; FRP under hand sink is loose; there are holes in FRP in kitchen; light shields are missing; didn’t observe a posted “no smoking” sign.

Sumo Sushi Express, 1090 Virginia Center Parkway – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: the hot holding unit is not maintaining foods at the proper temperature.

Burger King, 5450 Glenside Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge could not show verification that employees have been trained on illness reporting requirements; facility couldn’t provide written procedures for cleaning up vomit/diarrhea incidents; food debris found in microwave; temperature of light cream in the small refrigerator is elevated; ambient temperature of this unit is elevated; handle of ice scoop is in contact with the ice; mop sink faucet doesn’t have a dual check valve installed; there is trash on the ground in the corner of the dumpster area; side door of dumpster was left open; mops are not being hung to air dry; observed heavy grease on hood filters above hamburger oven.

Scott’s Shawarma, 5401 Glenside Drive – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: a container of baba ghanoush made more than 24 hours ago doesn’t have a date marked on it.

Einstein Brothers Bagels, 5607 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: sprayer is unlabeled; single-service lids are stored unprotected; there is some rust on the inside of the walk-in door.

DeFazio’s Catering, 6415 Rigsby Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: slicer is soiled; two lights are burned out under the hood; dumpster was left open.

Pho Saigon, 10190 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: no supervisors or managers are certified food protection managers; facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning up vomit/diarrhea incidents; observed open drink containers stored above the prep unit; observed employees fail to wash his/her hands and change gloves before engaging in food preparation after cracking a raw egg, after eating, after going outside and after handling the phone; kitchen hand sink doesn’t have hand soap; bar and kitchen hand sinks don’t have paper towels; observed noodles in water bath unit and spring rolls in fryer basket at improper temperatures; containers of noodles don’t have date marks; observed personal drinks stored inside the ice machine (this ice is used for beverages); single-service containers are stored on dirty prep counters; prep and single cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed buildup of food debris/grease/grime on surfaces of wire racks, fan system in walk-in cooler, prep counters and under grill; floors and walls have buildup of food debris and grime; several ceiling light bulbs do not have shields.

Quickway Japanese Hibachi, 4501 South Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: raw chicken incorrectly stored over raw beef and raw shrimp incorrectly stored over ready-to-eat ginger in the walk-in cooler; temperatures of sushi rolls and cooked noodles are elevated; time is not being tracked for noodles, chicken, shrimp and steak cooked in large quantities; raw tuna incorrectly thawing in reduced oxygen packaging; the far right two drawers on the cook line are not keeping foods at the proper temperature.

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, 7113 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: sanitizer level at bar three-compartment sink is too high; drainboard of the dish table is soiled; floor in beer closet is dirty; caulking along the wall is soiled; exposed spray foam in beer closet; wall inside produce box is in poor repair; didn’t observe a “no smoking” sign posted.

Starbucks Coffee Company, 12241 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: did not observe a ServSafe certificate; lowboy storing almond and soy milks and refresher bases has a loose gasket causing the door to not close without adjustment; floors under back reach-in coolers and wall/back side of service counter under equipment are soiled.

Tropical Smoothie Café, 11736-C West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed dust and debris on dishes and blenders stored on back dish rack; orange pitchers are not being thoroughly cleaned in between uses (fruit bits found stuck on a clean one); can opener blade has dark buildup; ice machine interior has a pink film; portioned chicken incorrectly placed into prep top after prep (this portion of the unit is not designed to cool foods); gasket is torn on lowboy door on the line; racks in the reach-in are rusty; observed debris in some areas on line equipment; floors under equipment, walls behind equipment/along the line, and back kitchen need a deep cleaning; back ceiling tiles are discolored.

Tavern at Triangle Park, 7110-F Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: open drink found on a cutting board; slicer is dirty; temperatures of cole slaw, greens, blue cheese, rand with milk, sliced cheese and sliced deli meats are elevated; potatoes, rice and soup don’t have date marks; some foods are past their expiration dates; six spray chemical bottles are unlabeled; temperatures of tuna salad and pulled chicken in the make table are elevated (they weren’t cooled properly before being placed in the unit); temperature of just-sliced tomatoes is elevated; frozen salmon incorrectly thawing in reduced-oxygen packaging; an open bag of pasta in the back room is stored unprotected; clamshells and coffee filters are stored uncovered; laminate on shelf to right of cook line is loose; win cubbies need to be resealed as they are no longer easily cleanable; several areas are dirty (dish machine exterior, interior of door to ice machine, unused bread drawer, shelf under ice bin, underside shelf of cook line, drip tray, can opener holder, interior of keg boxes, underneath service counter, floor under ice machine, bar floor under equipment and walk-in floor); floor around grease barrel has spillage; walk-in floor is in poor repair; floor tiles by dish machine and cook line are in disrepair; walls above three-compartment sink and in back store room need repair; remove the carpet pads inside both restrooms.

Desi Bites, 3621-C Cox Road – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: ladle found inside of hand sink in dish room (hand sinks are for handwashing only); hand sink in dish area doesn’t have paper towels; observed debris inside and on utensils stored clean; dead roach and debris found inside mixing bowl on prep table; temperatures of baked potatoes and roasted onions made two hours prior are elevated because of improper cooling methods; temperatures of hard boiled eggs, fried onions, panner, curried meats, raw shell eggs and pasteurized eggs are elevated; salan curry sauce, multiple rice containers and rice are all sitting out at room temperature; temperature of cooked peppers is elevated because of improper cooling methods; raw chicken incorrectly thawing in standing water on floor in dish area; white powders on the cook line are unlabeled; dead roaches found in mop sink and on floor corner in prep area; multiple foods incorrectly stored on walk-in cooler floor; pans are stacked while still wet on clean rack in dish room; observed debris in between gaskets on lowboy units throughout kitchen, on racks throughout facility, in between equipment and on shelves throughout the kitchen.
