Wendy’s, 8300 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sinks throughout kitchen don’t have hot water (hot water heater is in disrepair); temperatures of lettuce, tomatoes and cheese in prep unit are elevated (prep unit doesn’t appear to be working); temperature of raw burgers in small unit are elevated; container of chili and packages of bread incorrectly stored on floor; observed heavy ice buildup on fans in freezer; facility couldn’t provide test strips for three-compartment sink; observed grease on sides of fryers and under grill area; old food buildup found in units; a jacket incorrectly stored across hand sink; hood filters and surrounding area are dusty and greasy.

O’Charley’s Restaurant, 9990 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: salmon incorrectly thawing in reduced oxygen packaging in walk-in cooler; scoops and measuring cups are worn and pitted with buildup; racks in units, over three-compartment sink and rolling racks are rusty; gaskets along cook line are torn; observed grease buildup on fryers and other equipment along cook line; observed grease and grime on gaskets and inside unit; chip bins and fryer baskets are soiled with grease and residue buildup; grouting is low throughout kitchen; caulking is pulling away from wall of hand sink by dicer; cook line is in need of deep cleaning.

The Westin Richmond, 6631 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: did not observe a certified food protection manager certificate; multiple wash cloths found in hand sink in dish room (hand sinks are for handwashing only); hand sink in dish room and at front service station don’t have hand soap; raw ground beef incorrectly stored above raw beef in walk-in cooler; raw salmon incorrectly stored above pepperoni and other ready-to-eat food in commercial reach-in on cook line; observed pink and black mold on plastic panel of ice machine in kitchen; level of quaternary ammonium sanitizer at three-compartment sink in bar area is too low; final rinse of dish machine doesn’t reach the required temperature; observed food debris on multiple ladles hanging above prep table, multiple scoops stored clean, and in a mixing bowl near prep area; temperatures of crab cake mix, tomatoes, cheese, cream cheese, half-and-half and raw eggs are elevated; air temperature of two reach-in units is elevated; did not observe asterisks next to eggs and on consumer advisory statement on breakfast or dinner menu; temperatures of tomatoes, lettuce, salmon, smoked salmon, raw eggs, melons and chicken picata sauce are elevated because of improper cooling methods; multiple live roaches found on floor under equipment on cook line and behind high temperature dish machine in dish room; observed house flies in service station and in dish room; cutting boards throughout kitchen are heavily scratched; multiple refrigeration units in kitchen have torn gaskets; one light bulb is out at hood system on cook line and two light bulbs are out at hood system in prep area; door handle on reach-in unit on cook line is in disrepair; racks in walk-in cooler are rusty; facility couldn’t provide high temperature test strips; observed heavy debris/buildup on sides and in between equipment, under fryers, on hood filters on cook line and in prep area, on racks and shelves throughout, on top of dish machine, in utensil containers throughout, on bottoms of beer and wine coolers at bar area, on ceiling tiles on cook line, and on walls in dish room; there is heavy ice accumulation on bottom of reach-in freezer on cook line; observed buildup in soda gun holder at bar; faucet at prep sink in kitchen is leaking; there is a leak under the hand sink in front service station; floors throughout have low grouting.

Terraza, 6115 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: personal medications (rubbing alcohol, burn cream, peroxide) incorrectly stored on shelves with spices and on prep unit shelf; single cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed broken blades on knives that are in use; observed dried food debris and grease on surfaces of prep counters, under grill and on wire racks in walk-in cooler.

La Michoacana Crave & Munchies, 8129 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: front hand sink doesn’t have hand soap or paper towels; open bags of rice and other dry goods are not covered or in a container.

J Five Catering, 1241 North Laburnum Avenue – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Wendy’s, 10177 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed an employee switch tasks without first washing hands; sanitizing bins found in hand sink (hand sinks are for handwashing only); hand sink next to three-compartment sink doesn’t have paper towels; there is 0 ppm sanitizer in three-compartment sink; observed thick buildup of residue on bottom of mop sink; observed buildup in drains throughout the kitchen.

Hilton Garden Inn, 441 International Center Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of cream cheese is elevated because it was left sitting out; facility doesn’t have a written time control policy for milk, melons or yogurt; there isn’t an asterisk linking burger to the consumer advisory statement on the menu; mop sink doesn’t have a dual check valve installed.

Backwoodz BBQ, 400 West Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: temperatures of brisket and ribs in the warmer are too low; the leak at the three-compartment sink is better but still leaking.

Picciotti’s Pizza, 9039 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: raw shell eggs incorrectly stored above spinach and pizza dough in reach-in unit; observed food debris greater than one day old in mixing bowl and on spoon, ladle and grill scraper stored clean on rack; temperatures of garlic sauce and ham in prep top unit are elevated; bottle of cough syrup incorrectly stored next to sugar on table across from cook line; green cutting board on prep table is heavily scratched; lowboy unit and reach-in unit have torn gaskets; one light bulb is out at hood system on cook line; observed buildup on sides of grill and equipment on cook line, on racks next to reach-in unit, in can opener holder on prep table, and on back of slicer on prep table; hand sink in back kitchen is slow to drain; grouting is low on floor in mop sink room; paint is chipping on ceiling in mop sink room; ceiling tiles in front of house and in dish area are not easily cleanable; observed slight grease/debris on floor and wall behind and under equipment on cook line; floor corners in mop sink room have buildup.

Chanello’s Pizza, 5239 South Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a follow-up inspection: facility doesn’t have a certified food protection manager; hand sink in employee restroom doesn’t have paper towels; toilet and hand sink in employee restroom are dirty; temperatures of sauce and grilled chicken in pizza prep unit are elevated; chicken wings made yesterday, deli meats and sliced tomatoes are not date marked; pizza prep unit has torn gaskets; metal pizza trays and plastic bins are broken; observed heavy carbon buildup on pizza oven; facility couldn’t provide test strips for quat tablets; food debris found in hand sink (hand sinks are for handwashing only); racks next to and above the pizza prep unit are dirty/dusty; exterior of stand mixer is greasy/dirty; remove unnecessary items/boxes from back room of kitchen; observed food debris on floor below pizza oven; wall behind stand mixer has grease splatter; back wall is damaged; caulking at hand sink is in disrepair; ceiling tiles throughout kitchen are missing or misplaced.
