Gojo Ethiopian Restaurant, 10188 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed black residue buildup inside soda gun at bar; single cutting boards are heavily scratched; gaskets on reach-in cooler door are torn; surfaces of stove, prep table shelves and wire storage rack are greasy; observed grease buildup on wall behind oven.

Breaker’s Sports Grille, 9127-V West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: didn’t observe a certified food protection manager certificate; kitchen hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; no handwash signage posted at older bar hand sink next to kitchen cook line; raw shucked oysters incorrectly stored next to containers of cream cheese and above other ready-to-eat foods in walk-in cooler; raw chicken incorrectly stored over raw shrimp and raw steak incorrectly stored next to raw chicken in walk-in cooler; observed debris on slicer blade and scoop; temperatures of individually-wrapped cheese, bacon and raw burgers are elevated; brisket, hot dogs, corn hash, brown gravy and chips are all past their expiration dates; quaternary ammonium levels at three-compartment sink at newer bar and at mop sink in kitchen are too high; improper cooling methods observed for prepped tomatoes and gravy; beers and drinks incorrectly stored on the floor throughout dry storage and older bar area next to kitchen; box of to-go trays incorrectly stored on floor in dry storage; cutting board on sandwich unit is scratched and heavily stained; multiple refrigeration and freezer units have torn gaskets; facility couldn’t provide chlorine test strips for chemical dish machine; observed debris on racks and shelves throughout, on top of dish machine, and on bottoms of beer coolers; observed heavy grease/debris in between and under equipment and fryers on cook line; kitchen hand sink is missing a faucet handle for cold water; hand sink at older bar is slow to drain; ceiling tiles in kitchen are not smooth and easily cleanable; floors throughout kitchen have low grouting; ceiling lights in dish area are not working; observed heavy grease, debris, buildup and stains on floors and walls behind and under equipment on cook line and in dish area; there is debris/litter on floors in both bar areas.

Pizzaro, 9966 Brook Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed buildup of dirt or grime on walk-in fans, shelves in pizza unit, and gaskets of cook line.

Glen Allen High School, 10700 Staples Mill Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: observed milk residue buildup on wire racks in walk-in cooler.

Lakeside Elementary School, 6700 Cedar Croft Street – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: temperature of fish nuggets in hot holding unit is too low.

SB’s Lakeside Loveshack, 6935-37 Lakeside Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink in dish room is blocked by clean dish racks; hand sink at bar doesn’t have hand soap; temperature of grits made the night before is elevated; picked jalapenos and cubed ham are past their expiration dates; spatulas incorrectly stored in room temperature water on prep table; facility couldn’t provide test strips for three-compartment sink.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, 12010 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: cook line hand sink is blocked by a trash can and ice was found in it; observed discoloration/residue on juicer exit port; interior of ice machine has buildup; there was 0 ppm chlorine in kitchen dishwasher when tested and the temperature didn’t reach the threshold for heat sanitization; bar dishwasher didn’t reach the required temperature for heat sanitization; food debris found in utensil holders along expo; observed a powdery residue on silverware trays; temperature of lettuce on the line is elevated because the container was slightly overfilled; observed small flies in the dish area and at the bar; one light is out under the back hood system; a few cutting boards in storage are worn or had deep scratches; observed buildup of debris on ledge under grills; beer cooler and walk-in cooler fan guards are dusty; dry storage shelves are stained; underside of expo shelf feels sticky; bottoms of lowboy coolers need to be wiped out; wall surrounding the dishwasher has dark buildup; floor drain under three-compartment sink is dirty.

Jimmy John’s, 11301 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of tomatoes sliced this morning are elevated; ceiling grate in the freezer is mangled; observed a black residue in utensil organizer on back storage rack.

Napoli Pizza, 3324 Pump Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge is unable to identify the “big six” foodborne illnesses and their associated symptoms; raw shell eggs incorrectly stored above sauce in homestyle fridge; can opener blade is dirty; spaghetti, chicken and ground beef in the reach-in cooler are not date marked; wet cloth incorrectly stored on make table instead of in a sanibucket with sanitizer; gasket on small coke fridge is torn; sides of fryer and shelves/racks in the kitchen are greasy; microwave and bottom of freezer are dirty; floor and walls in back kitchen have dark spots and dirt stains.

Toast New American Gastropub, 7007 Three Chopt Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: cutting boards need to be cleaned and sanitized; observed a film on mop sink exterior; bread crates shouldn’t be used as shelves in the walk-in; door to continental unit is in poor repair and a gasket is loose; can shelf and bottom shelf of bar table are rusty; door to salad prep unit is broken; several surfaces are dirty (grease trap, freezer interior, lower shelf under chargrill, drip trap, fryers, area between equipment on cook line, holster at bar, walk-in floors, floor under grease trap); shelves in walk-in are moldy; observed exposed foam in walk-in; area behind ice machine is dusty.

Godwin High School, 2101 Pump Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: light is out under the hood and in the mop room.

Rolfe Middle School, 6901 Messer Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperature of milk in cooler #1 is elevated; ambient air temperature of this unit is elevated; temperatures of salads and applesauce in glass door reach-in cooler are elevated; two wet wiping cloths incorrectly sitting out on the serving line; fan in dish room is dusty; hand sink in employee restroom is slow to drain; dumpsters out back were left open.

Varina High School, 7053 Messer Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; temperature of mini cheeseburgers in three separate hot holding units is too low; temperature of burgers is too low; mop sink has a leak.

Starbucks Coffee Company, 8137 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: back hand sink is blocked by broom and pans; did not observe a system for testing the high temp dish machine.

Captain D’s Seafood, 7607 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed buildup inside tea nozzle on front line; salmon incorrectly thawing in reduced oxygen packaging in walk-in cooler; observed grease buildup on fryers; racks and wall in walk-in have mildew buildup; ceiling vents are dusty; wood boards should not be used to level the fryers; observed low grout in areas throughout the kitchen (food is embedded in between the tiles); wall tiles are missing near the prep sink; light bulbs do not have protective shields.

Wingstop, 9048 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: employee with long beard is preparing food without wearing a beard guard; large strainer baskets are bent and in disrepair; observed grease and dust buildup on surfaces of counters, green wire racks, top of oven, portable fan and on towel dispensers at hand sinks; proper backflow prevention device is not installed on mop sink faucet; floor in back hallway/room is no longer sealed; observed food and grease buildup on floor under fryers, on tables and racks.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries, 10841 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: walk-in fan guard is dusty; observed buildup behind freestyle ice chute; patches of grout in the kitchen are low.

Jamaica Jerk Pit, 2743 Hungary Spring Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: there is 0 ppm sanitizer in the three-compartment sink; temperatures of ox tails, chicken and curry chicken in walk-in cooler are elevated.
