Backwoodz BBQ, 400 West Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: raw shell eggs incorrectly stored over ready-to-eat beans in refrigerator; temperature of chicken in the steam well is too low; one freezer unit is broken.

Irie Vibes Jamaican Restaurant RVA, 1221 North Laburnum Avenue – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

MAY 16

Little Caesars, 7332 Staples Mill Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed grease and dried food residue on lids, containers and utensils stored on a rack above the three-compartment sink; time is not being tracked for pizzas on the staging rack; temperatures of all pizzas on staging rack are too low; observed cracked and broken lids and containers; observed heavy dust and grease residue buildup on surfaces of pizza oven, green wire racks, all the rolling carts, monitors, cables, and receipt machine; shelves in walk-in cooler are moldy; door to bathroom in the kitchen should remain closed; heavy buildup of mold found on wall near three-compartment sink; ceiling panels near pizza oven are stained; floor around grease trap is no longer smooth and easily cleanable.

Subway Sandwiches & Salads, 1216 North Concord Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of lettuce, spinach and cheese on the prep line are elevated; temperatures of deli meat, spinach and egg in lowboy across from the prep line are elevated; did not observe proper weather shielding on the back door.

Burger King, 3720 Mechanicsville Turnpike – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed an employee leave the restroom with gloves on, enter kitchen, and begin task without washing hands or changing gloves; chicken nugget freezer is in disrepair; observed grease and dried food debris buildup on fryer basket, storage rack and on self-serve drink dispenser; observed food debris and dust buildup on walk-in cooler walls and ceiling, walk-in freezer floor, ceiling vents and tiles surrounding vents; wet mop is not being hung to dry; coving tiles throughout the kitchen are damaged.

Angela’s Ristorante, 425 North Ridge Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have a certified food protection manager; facility doesn’t have written procedures for how to clean up vomit/diarrhea; slicer and drip trays are dirty; spray bottle of clean incorrectly stored over food/equipment; a soap jug and spray bottle are unlabeled; single-service items are not stored inverted; spray hose at three-compartment sink falls below the flood level of the sink (a cross connection exists); wall/pipes beside saute pan shelves are dirty; light shield is missing in kitchen; there isn’t a “no smoking” sign posted.

Casa Italiana, 8801 Three Chopt Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have written procedures for how to clean up vomit/diarrhea; shellstock tags have not been properly marked with a last service date; temperatures of rice, vegetable stock, clams and sauce are elevated; no dates found on pickled onions, lasagna or sauce; utensils should not be stored in standing water; a tin can cannot be reused to store utensils; facility doesn’t have heat tapes or maximum registering thermometer for the dish machine; drip trays to the stove are dirty.

Anant Cuisine of India, 4348 Pouncey Tract Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have written procedures for how to clean up vomit/diarrhea; observed an employee exit the kitchen wearing gloves and then return to work without changing gloves and washing hands; hand sink is blocked by a large strainer; food containers in the walk-in show evidence of not being washed and sanitized between uses/refills (dirty exteriors and interiors appear old); egg slicer and ladle on clean dish rack are dirty; can opener blade, interior of ice machine, tea urn nozzles and bar soda gun nozzles are grimy; observed food debris on knives on magnetic strip; the make table and refrigerated drawers are not holding foods at the proper temperature (temperatures of paneer, tikka sauce, samosas and fried veg are elevated); crispy spinach is sitting out at room temperature; temperatures of cooked potato and kale are elevated due to being over filled/stored above the air curtain; only a few foods in the walk-in have date marks; spray bottles of disinfectant are unlabeled; personal medications and belongings incorrectly stored with clean dishes; observed incense sticks and burnt remains on top of a make table; a couple of food containers are incorrectly stored on the walk-in freezer floor; single-use buckets for yogurt and other foods are being reused to store curries and sauces; light bulbs under hood system are burned out; racks in all refrigerators, especially the walk-in, are very rusty; all cutting boards are in terrible condition; large floor mixer and equipment around it are coated in old caked-on flour; top of dishwasher is coated in debris; observed old residues on equipment surfaces along cook line; expo line shelf is covered with dirty foil; entire kitchen needs a deep cleaning; walls have food splatters, stains and mildew; floor drains are coated in thick layers of grime; ceiling and vent in the walk-in are dusty; kitchen ceiling is discolored; cook line floor under equipment is soiled; hood filters are dusty and greasy.

Firehouse Subs, 4028-K Cox Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: pitcher of water found in hand sink (hand sinks are for handwashing only); sliced meats are improperly cooling while wrapped inside lexan containers with lids; rows of lexan containers are packed close together, inhibiting air flow through the wire racks; to-go containers are not stored inverted; cutting boards in storage and at end of the line are worn; gaskets in the reach-in cooler have small tears.

Dunkin Donuts, 10600 Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hot water at hand sinks doesn’t reach the required temperature; chemical spray bottles incorrectly stored on prep table next to donut holes; observed several employees wearing wrist jewelry during food preparation; mop sink doesn’t have a dual check valve installed; trash can in women’s restroom is uncovered.

Domino’s Pizza, 11210 Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: dish machine is broken and not being used so it should be removed from the facility; observed ice buildup around fan/motor unit of pizza prep refrigerator; observed food debris in mop sink and on floor in dishwashing area.

MAY 19

Dugout Bar & Grille, 1510 Mountain Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed an employee cutting tomatoes with bare hands; bar hand sink doesn’t have soap or paper towels; observed wings being parcooked without proper written approval; temperatures of lettuce, beef and cheese in one-door reach-in are elevated; barbecue and chicken wings are incorrectly thawing at room temperature; wood shelves above the prep table and wood drawers under prep surface are unsealed; back hand sink is leaking and the hot water handle isn’t working.
