Me’kong Restaurant, 6004 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed an employee handle raw beef and then switch tasks without washing hands; condensate pipes are draining into the hand sink (hand sinks are for handwashing only); containers of prepped vegetables in the walk-in cooler are not covered; observed food debris on knives and mandolin slicers in clean storage and on can opener blade; there is grime buildup inside ice machine; sanitizer is not at the required concentration at the main dish machine or bar dish machine; temperatures of tomatoes, cut leafy greens and garlic and oil are elevated; cooked noodles are improperly cooling in a deep covered dish; cooked chicken is incorrectly cooling in a deep container; a wet towel was found on the counter (use a dry towel or store wet cloths in a sanitizer solution); handle to ice scoop is incorrectly stored in the ice at the drink station; several items are in disrepair (fry basket for noodles, gaskets on multiple refrigerators, and doors of two-door reach-in by the cook line); observed grease and dried food debris buildup on fry noodle bucket, shelves throughout kitchen, can opener holder, inside wine cooler, walk-in cooler fan grates, bar cooler fan grates, and outside microwaves; hood vents have heavy grease buildup.

Spoonbread Bistro Deux, 3416 Lauderdale Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: baggies of raw beef incorrectly stored next to risotto and cheese in prep top; can opener blade has buildup; racks in walk-in have patches of rust; gasket of beer cooler is torn; handle of beer cooler is broken; observed dust on the hanging ladder above expo; hot water handle on the hand sink is broken; observed grease on the floor behind the flat top; light shield over the dish area is missing.

Subway, 11234 Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge is unable to verify that employees have received training on employee illness reporting requirements; the right make table is not maintaining foods at the proper temperature (temperatures of ham, turkey, teriyaki chicken and cold cuts are elevated); racks in the walk-in are moldy; bathroom doors are not self-closing; mop used last night is wet in the mop sink (hang mops to dry).

Deep Run Roadhouse, 12379 Gayton Road – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: person in charge is unable to verify that employees have received training on employee illness reporting requirements.

Starbucks Coffee Company, 2363 Roux Street – The following violation was reported during a routine inspection: hand sink in the back doesn’t have paper towels.

Kung Fu Tea, 11577 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed items stored in both hand sinks (hand sinks are for handwashing only); wood under the water heater is not sealed.

Genghis Grill, 11849 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning vomit or diarrhea; bar hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; kitchen hand sink is broken; dishwasher has 0 ppm chlorine; temperatures of beaten egg, noodles and cabbage are elevated; live and dead roaches found near the dishwasher; rice scoop is incorrectly stored in standing water; to-go containers are not being stored inverted; cutting boards are very scratched; wire racks in the kitchen are rusty; ice machine’s sliding door is broken; walk-in cooler racks and the beer cooler’s air intake at the bar are moldy; counter behind the self-service line is sticky and dusty; walk-in fan guards are dusty; top of dishwasher is covered in debris; storage rack in grill area is greasy; observed low grout throughout the entire kitchen; floor tiles in the grill area are coming loose; ceiling tiles in the prep area need to be replaced; wall behind the dishwasher has mildew.

Awful Arthur’s Seafood Company, 10498 Ridgefield Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: the facility’s food protection manager certificates have expired; tags are missing the date shellstock was last sold; knives incorrectly stored in crevice between refrigerator and prep table; green and small white individual cutting boards are heavily scratched; racks in the walk-in are rusty; sides of equipment (fryers, make table) are greasy and dirty; mop sink doesn’t have a dual check valve installed; wall and floor near fryer are greasy.

Ciao Capri, 10478 Ridgefield Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning vomit or diarrhea; dish machine has 0 ppm sanitizer; black and pink slime found in dish machine; temperature of tomatoes left on counter is elevated; observed leaks under hand sink and three-compartment sink; three-compartment sink that is used for food prep is directly connected; ceiling vent is dusty.

Dean’s BBQ and Grill, 3716 Mechanicsville Turnpike – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: reheated brisket didn’t reach required temperature; temperature of cheese sauce that has been cooling for 2.5 hours is elevated; temperature of milk shake mix is elevated; observed multiple foods cooling in covered containers and large portions of meat cooling in refrigeration (use proper cooling methods); three-compartment sink doesn’t have a dual check valve installed.

Westbury Deli, 8903 Three Chopt Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: observed food debris on slicer and can opener; uncut deli meat portions and some prepared foods (chili, cooked vegetables, open hot dogs) do not have date marks; several drain flies found in hand sink area; inside racks of refrigerators and freezer and hood filters need cleaning.

Shorty’s Diner, 5625 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning up vomit/diarrhea; observed wait staff eating in the wait area and the dishwasher chewing food while working; an open personal drink was found in the prep area; observed wait staff bussing tables and not wash hands afterwards; two sinks are missing paper towels; one sink is missing soap; there isn’t a handwash sign at the service area hand sink; butter in front expo line is uncovered; interior of ice machine has heavy slime buildup; can opener is dirty; temperatures in the make table are elevated because pans of food are not touching the ice (ham, mushrooms, potato salad, salami, taco meat and chicken salad); no date marks found on cheesecake, potatoes, meatloaf, turkey, hash, corn or bologna; facility doesn’t have a written time control policy; time is not being tracked for liquid eggs, pancake batter and hash browns; bottle of polish incorrectly stored beside food; stainless steel cleaner incorrectly stored with jam and crusts; spray bottle of cleaner is unlabeled; person in charge is unaware that prepared pancake batter must be cooled to 41 degrees within four hours; improper cooling methods observed; ice cream in freezer is uncovered; butters in customer access area are uncovered; wet dirty cloths found on prep tables (should be stored in sanitizer between uses); ice buckets are not stored inverted; interior of Egg King has loose seam material; lowboy unit has broken door; no devices available to monitor temperature of dish machine; a dirty dish rack is being used to prop up the toaster; hand sink faucets on the line are dirty; interior fryer cabinet and drip tray are dirty; mop sink doesn’t have a dual check valve installed; wood is unsealed where new FRP was installed; observed mildew by the spray hose; prep sink floor drain is dirty; floors under cook line, fryer, stove, grill, and walk-in are dirty.
