Bojangles, 5207 Brook Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: women’s restroom doesn’t have hand soap; red hose found in hand sink (hand sinks are for handwashing only); temperature of container of raw liquid egg is elevated.

Marco’s Pizza, 1070 Virginia Center Parkway – No violations reported during a routine inspection.

Charles’ Kitchen, 9127-C West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility couldn’t provide a certified food protection manager certificate during inspection; raw salmon incorrectly stored next to chickpeas and raw eggs incorrectly stored over cabbage in reach-in unit; level of quaternary ammonium at three-compartment sink is too low; temperatures of several foods in hot holding units are too low (stewed vegetables, plantains, cabbage, black beans, chicken, saltfish patty, veggie patty, curry chicken patty); temperature of curry in lowboy unit is elevated; improper cooling methods used for tomatoes in prep top unit, raw shrimp in reach-in unit and curried chicken on cook line; fish is thawing in reduced oxygen packaging in the reach-in unit; utensils are stored in standing water on prep table but the water is not hot enough; cutting boards throughout the facility are heavily scratched; racks in walk-in cooler and freezer are rusty; observed debris on shelves in walk-in cooler, rightmost hood filters, sides of equipment between grill and stove on cook line, in utensil containers on clean rack, and outside equipment in prep area; walk-in cooler fan guard and fan near three-compartment sink are dusty; hot water is not turning off at hand sink; leak found under three-compartment sink on pipes; walk-in freezer has cracked floor tiles.

Jersey Mike’s Sub Shop, 11444 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility couldn’t provide a certified food protection manager certificate during inspection; lettuce is overfilled on the line; temperature of sliced tomatoes on the line are elevated; lettuce is incorrectly cooling in a deep pan covered with plastic wrap in the walk-in; single-service items are not stored inverted on the display case; walk-in cooler fan grate and the display case grate are dusty; observed food debris and grease under the grill; the new ovens emit a lot of steam from the top of the unit, but there is no hood system to ventilate this condensate out of the kitchen.

China Wok, 11530-C West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge is unable to identify the “big six” foodborne illnesses and their associated symptoms; pan of raw chicken incorrectly stored on top of ready-to-eat foods in the walk-in; raw beef incorrectly stored on top of soy sauce bucket; person in charge is not aware of what chemical sanitizer is used at the three-compartment sink; person in charge states that only soap is used for washing dishes; temperature of cabbage is elevated because it was left out after cutting roughly one hour prior; eggrolls do not have a date mark; fried chicken pieces and rice that are supposed to be on a time control do not have the times marked; containers of food incorrectly stored on the walk-in freezer floor; several surfaces are rusty (metal rack in walk-in cooler, lower portion of prep table and back storage rack); one light under the hood is burned out; facility does not have chlorine test strips; fan grate in walk-in cooler is dusty.

Moe’s Southwest Grill, 10839 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: temperatures of lettuce on the line and salsas at the salsa bar are elevated; particle board on back storage rack is no longer smooth and cleanable; mop sink doesn’t have a dual check valve installed.

Halal Fried Chicken & Gyro, 2601 Tuckernuck Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: raw chicken incorrectly stored over tarter sauce and next to comminuted uncooked gyro beef in lowboy unit; raw eggs incorrectly stored over green peppers and raw chicken incorrectly stored over comminuted uncooked gyro beef in walk-in cooler; temperature of rice in warmer on the cook line is too low; temperatures of chicken and chickpeas are elevated because they were left out at room temperature; improper cooling methods used for lettuce, raw chicken and tomatoes; raw chicken is not being thawed properly; single-service trays are not stored inverted on shelf on cook line; cutting boards at three-compartment sink are heavily scratched; observed low grouting on floors throughout the kitchen.

Fu Jian Chinese Restaurant, 9720 Gayton Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge is not familiar with employee illness reporting requirements; facility doesn’t have written procedures for cleaning up a vomiting or diarrheal incident; hot water at the hand sink doesn’t reach the required temperature; temperature of garlic in oil at the cook line is elevated; there are no dates on prepared foods held longer than 24 hours; tofu opened several days ago doesn’t have a date mark; flour and sugar are not covered in dry storage area; wet wiping cloths found throughout kitchen should be stored in a sanitizer solution; make table at the cook line is not working or in-use and should be replaced or removed; observed food debris on stove top, cart on cook line, inside freezer units, on shelving and non-functioning work table; facility doesn’t have a mop/utility sink; employee restroom doesn’t have a covered trash can; lights are out in the kitchen; observed food splatter on walls; hood filters are greasy; light bulb in reach-in freezer is not shatter resistant.

Wendy’s, 2200 East Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; cooked onions on a time control policy don’t have a time marked; container of sanitizer is unlabeled; observed an employee wearing wrist bracelets; ice scoop handle incorrectly stored in the ice; observed gaps on hood vents; a light is out in dry storage; walk-in freezer has ice buildup.

Mission BBQ Richmond, 5440 Glenside Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: a broken warmer unit is blocking access to the hand sink in the dish wash area; observed dried food debris on can opener blade and holder; spray bottles of cleaner are unlabeled; all single cutting boards are heavily scratched; cutting boards on front line are badly pitted with damaged edges and corners; fryer baskets are in disrepair; wire racks in dry storage are rusty; observed food debris/grease/grime buildup on several surfaces (wheels/legs of fryers, oven, grill, wire racks, fan grates, walk-in cooler ceiling, racks inside warmers, potato slicer, monitors and lamps on front service line, floors, walls, floor drains under and behind equipment, three-compartment sink and dish machine).

Arby’s at Tuckahoe Village, 11298 Patterson Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: person in charge could not produce verification that employees have received training on employee illness reporting requirements; person in charge couldn’t locate the employee health policy; there isn’t a handwash sign at the hand sink near the sandwich make table; scale used to portion meats is not getting washed, rinsed and sanitized, according to conversation with the person in charge; person in charge states that the shake machine is only cleaned every two weeks but the manual indicates that weekly cleaning and sanitizing is required; person in charge states that black multiuse gloves that come in contact with rotisserie chicken is not washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use; observed leftover cheese sauce at incorrect temperature; temperature of romaine lettuce in make table is elevated; a peroxide-based cleaner and disinfectant is being used on scale that comes into contact with food but the manufacturer’s label indicates that this chemical may only be used on nonfood contact surfaces; small and large flies found in kitchen; observed an employee without a hair restraint; pans are stacked wet on a shelf above the three-compartment sink; gasket of shake machine is torn; there are gaps in hood filters above the oven; racks in the walk-in are rusty; observed food debris inside freezer unit, plastic storage bins and consumer self-service; dumpster lid will not close because the unit is too full; floor grout is worn in several areas; freezer door doesn’t appear to shut tightly; floor and wall at fryer area are soiled with food debris and grease; employee jackets incorrectly stored on top soda boxes (did not observe a place for employees to store personal items).

Jadean’s Smokin Six O, 1126 Westbriar Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility couldn’t provide an employee health policy; outside hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; observed residue inside ice machine; slicer was not sanitized after being used to cut cabbage today; temperatures of chicken tenders and onion rings under heat lamp are too low; temperature of cooked chicken in steam table is too low; temperature of lettuce in make table is elevated because it was overstacked; hand sanitizer incorrectly stored near food; temperature of coleslaw is elevated because it was cooling in a deep container; containers of oil incorrectly stored on the floor on cook line and in dry storage; observed two employees with beards without beard restraints; collard greens were cut prior to being washed; scoops in bulk containers of sugar do not have a handle; ice scoop handle was touching ice inside the unit; buckets with gaskets on the lid are being reused to store foods such as sugar (these are not cleanable); hose outside doesn’t have a dual check valve installed; observed unsealed wood in bathrooms and outside smoker area; floor by ice machine is damaged; there are holes in the wall.
