Sportable, an adaptive sports club in Central Virginia, will host the sixth annual Wayne Samford Memorial Golf Tournament Monday, June 1 at The Dominion Club in Glen Allen, Virginia. Proceeds will benefit Sportable’s mission to make adaptive sports accessible throughout the greater Richmond area. Registration is available now at Sportable.org.

“Jeff Samford, and his late father, Wayne, have been unwavering supporters of Sportable for many years and we are proud to honor Wayne’s legacy through the Wayne Samford Memorial Golf Tournament,” said Hunter Leemon, Sportable's executive director. “We have had the pleasure of being involved in this tournament over the last five years and are thrilled to have the opportunity to host the event in June. We will continue the tournament’s tradition while supporting Sportable’s mission at the same time.”

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. Registration is $500 per team, or $125 per individual. The tournament format is captain's choice, with contests for longest drive, closest to the pin on four holes and straightest drive, among other awards.

“My father, Wayne Samford, had a passion for sports and those with disabilities, and was involved with many community partners that provided programs for individuals with disabilities,” said Jeff Samford, former tournament director. “Sportable’s commitment to creating opportunities for accessibility and inclusiveness in Richmond aligns with the mission of the tournament and we are proud to have such a great organization take the helm this year.”
