Table of Contents

Regency Square Mall and WRIC 8 News will present the second annual “Back-to-School Expo” this Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Regency. Customers can get a head start on shopping and save money on school clothes, shoes and backpacks during Virginia’s Tax-Free Weekend. The one-day event includes free resources related to after-school care, kids activities, nutrition, tutoring, health insurance, fashion, continuing education, housing, financing, sports camps, and more.

The first 800 families attending the event will receive a free goody bag; prize giveaways will also be held every hour. Customers can also give back to the community by collecting much needed school supplies to “Stuff the Bus.”  All school supplies benefit local schools in need, especially those identified as Title I schools.

At noon, the Back-to-School Fashion Show presented by JCPenney will take place, emceed by Katie Dupree, 8 News meteorologist. The JCPenney Salon will also offer discounted haircuts to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Kids can receive a $5 haircut on Aug. 4 and $10 haircuts on all other days through Sept. 15.  Richmond Raceway will have an interactive two-seat, in-car driving simulator on site, which allows fans to get behind the wheel and experience the thrill of driving a race car.
