Recount date set in Henrico Circuit Court clerk’s race

A recount date has been set in the race for clerk of the Henrico Circuit Court.
Incumbent Republican Heidi Barshinger was certified by the Henrico Electoral Board as the winner over Democratic challenger Gray Montrose, by a slim 245-vote margin among more than 106,000 votes cast in the election.
But Barshinger's 0.2% margin of victory was well below the 1% threshold at which the losing candidate may request a recount, and Montrose did so earlier this month by petitioning the court.
The recount has been set for Dec. 11. It will take place in the Henrico Administration building’s Cafe 1611 at the county’s western government center, beginning at 8 a.m., and members of the public may attend and observe the process.
