The Queen of Virginia Skill & Entertainment, a Richmond-based company, has distributed more than $250,000 in grants and donations to organizations throughout Virginia through its charitable arm "The Queen Gives" – including recent donations to Henrico-based groups CrossOver Ministry (pictured), GRASP and the Henrico Christmas Mother.

The Richmond-based company works through its vendor network to place skill games in various VA ABC licensed locations statewide.

To date, QVS has primarily focused its charitable giving efforts on charities that work to reduce or alleviate the burden that the high cost of healthcare places on the uninsured and underinsured.

“We are so pleased that Queen of Virginia has taken such a keen interest in health care for the uninsured,” says Deborah Oswalt, Executive Director of the Virginia Health Care Foundation. “The support they are giving to our Pharmacy Connection program is helping patients receive free or reduced cost medicines from pharmaceutical companies.”

A host of free clinics that work with the VHCF are also on the receiving end of funds.

“We are using your donation to purchase a wheelchair for persons needing X-Rays,” wrote Debra Perdue, CEO of the Highland Medical Center. Health Wagon is employing its grant to help residents in six southwest Virginia counties obtain free mobile care.

More than 100 organizations have received donations through March 31.

Organizations seeking grants from QVS should visit the company’s website at http://www.vaskillgames.com and click on ‘Community Giving’ to apply for funds.
