Next week, the Henrico County Police Division will host assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement as part of its re-accreditation process. The on-site assessment will take place from Oct. 27-31 and will validate the Division's adherence to CALEA standards.

The Henrico County Police Division has been accredited by CALEA since 1987; it expanded its accreditation in 2015 to include its Law Enforcement, Basic Training Academy, and Emergency Communications Center. As a result, the division earned the TRI-ARC accreditation, which it was re-awarded in April 2021.

CALEA conducts on-site inspections every four years to ensure that accredited agencies continue to meet the required standards.

Citizens can participate in the process by submitting comments to CALEA through an online Accreditation Public Comment Portal. The portal allows for comments or concerns about the division's compliance with CALEA standards, community engagement, service delivery, and overall candidacy for accreditation.
