Prep Baseball Tournaments intends to build its four-field cloverleaf layout baseball complex at Henrico's Glover Park by the fall of 2025, company officials announced earlier this month.

The Citizen first reported in July that the company, which operates Prep Baseball Report, was finalizing an agreement with the Henrico Sports and Entertainment Authority to build and operate the complex on a 21-acre county-owned site at the park, which it will lease from Henrico.

In a statement, PBT officials said that they anticipate hosting about three dozen events annually at the complex, which will feature four full-size turf fields. They'll join two other baseball fields of the same size and type at the park; those are being built by Henrico County and also are expected to be complete by next fall.

"With the increasing demand for elite-level baseball tournaments along the East Coast, the Henrico facility will serve as a premier destination," said East Coast Tournament Director for Prep Baseball Tournaments Eddie Tisdale. "We anticipate hosting over 35 events annually, drawing baseball players of all ages, from 8 to 18 years old, and from across the United States and Canada."

Founded in suburban Chicago, Prep Baseball Tournaments is an independent scouting service and event company that hosts more than 500 events annually, engaging more than 50,000 participants. PBT operates in 41 states and Canada, making it the nation’s largest baseball scouting infrastructure.

"Prep Baseball's reputation for excellence in organizing high-profile events and operating first-class facilities around the country is a perfect match for our goal to make Glover Park one of the top-tier baseball complexes on the East Coast and another addition to our existing quality diamonds throughout Henrico," said Michael McCormack, manager of business development for the Henrico Sports and Entertainment Authority. "Under the project management of Henrico Recreation and Parks, this next phase of development at Glover Park is yet another major step forward for our residents and our sports tourism initiatives in Henrico County."
