Police: Varina High student arrested after gun found in car on campus

A Varina High School student was arrested Wednesday after police allegedly found a gun in his car on school grounds.
The discovery resulted from an anonymous tip sent in to school officials.
The Henrico Police division was alerted around 2 p.m. School resource officers along with school officials investigated, and allegedly recovered the gun from the student’s car.
There is no known threat to any school, police said.
The boy was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm on school property and underage possession of a firearm. He was taken into custody and transported to the Henrico County Juvenile Detention Home, according to police.
