Pedestrian struck and killed in Glen Allen hit-and-run

A 27-year-old man died Saturday night after apparently being struck by a vehicle on Nuckols Road in Glen Allen.

At about 10:44 p.m., a Henrico Police officer was driving east on Nuckols near its intersection with Hickory Park Drive when he found the man, later identified as DeShawn S. Johnson, lying in the road and a female by his side.

The officer began to render aid and called for EMS support, but Johnson (who was transported to a hospital) later died from his injuries.

Detectives are asking drivers who traveled east along Nuckols Road between Twin Hickory Road and I-295 sometime between 10:30 and 10:45 p.m. and who may have seen anything related to the incident to call them. Any detail could assist them with their search, Lt. Matt Pecka said.
