Prepare for a run on brooms this summer, as Henrico County prepares to host the Pan-American Quidditch Games at Glover Park. The air will fill with quaffles, bludgers and snitches July 13 and 14 as teams from North, Central, and South America along the Caribbean converge on the park for competition in the mixed gender contact sport that combines elements of rugby, dodgeball and tag.

Co-hosted by the the International Quidditch Association and US Quidditch, in conjunction with Richmond Region Tourism, the IQA Pan-American Games will be Henrico's second quidditch tournament; in 2014, Glover Park was also the scene of the US Quidditch’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship.

Admission will be free for spectators, who can sign up to receive event updates and information at eventbrite.com/e/iqa-pan-american-games-2019-tickets-55734418145.

“It’s outstanding that Glover Park is now attracting sporting events at the elite international level, and we are looking forward to hosting fans and athletes from all over the world for this event,” said Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas. “Quidditch now has more than 8,000 international players. We can’t wait to see this sport come alive at Glover Park.”

“This event has been the result of several years of discussion with other National Governing Bodies, including Canada, Mexico, and Peru," said USQ Executive Director Sarah Woolsey. We thank them for their work to make this event a reality.”
