Online information session about Henrico Virtual Academy planned March 29

Table of Contents

Henrico Schools officials will host a March 29 online information session to provide details about the school system’s fully virtual K-12 school, the Henrico Virtual Academy. Attendees will learn how the academy is structured and hear about the process for applying for the 2022-23 school year, while learning what life is like for students enrolled in the academy.

Families of K-12 students may apply for 2022-23 starting April 11 by going to the school’s website and choosing “Applying to the HVA” under the School Links menu.

Presenters for the information session will include Deia Champ, HCPS’ director of middle schools and lead director of the Henrico Virtual Academy; and Garry Marshall, HVA principal.

The session will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. To attend, visit www.tinyurl.com/HVAinfosession2022. The session uses Microsoft Teams, but you can participate using your browser; no downloads are required. The session also will be recorded for later viewing.

The Henrico Virtual Academy is in its first year of existence. Students at the academy attend classes virtually with a mix of synchronous classes — learning online in a group with a teacher — and asynchronous, or independent learning. The school is aimed at students who benefit from the flexibility, individualized environment and focus of virtual learning. Any student residing in Henrico County may apply.
