William “Bill” Haden (86) passed away on May 20, 2024 and joined his beloved wife, Virginia, in their heavenly home. A quiet man, he lived his life with confidence, integrity, and a deep faith in God. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who worked hard to take care of those around him. His family relied on his steadfast wisdom and compassion, consistently turning to him for advice. His generosity with his time and talents made him the person friends and neighbors turned to for help with practical tasks from leaky pipes to malfunctioning smoke detectors. Service to his church community was important to him, and he served as an elder at Colonial Place Christian Church before becoming a member and deacon at Second Baptist Church. He worked for the C&P Telephone Company for 35 years, holding multiple positions from lineman to engineer. A lifelong learner, he especially enjoyed math and history. He was a talented woodworker who made many beautiful pieces of furniture, and he loved spending time outdoors, whether going on walks or working in the yard. He loved country and gospel music; football and NASCAR; and enjoyed watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show, The Waltons, and various westerns. He was creative with a quick sense of humor, and he loved sharing anecdotes and tall tales. In everything he did, he considered those around him and gave selflessly of all that he had and all that he was. He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Virginia; his parents, Erminie and Stuart Haden; and his sister, Jean Stewart. He is survived by his daughter, Gayle; son, Jeff (Cindy); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and health professionals who traveled this journey with him: LaShante, Sylvia, Samantha, Marquita, Katty, Jaida, Makaila, Brittany, and Jennifer.
