Wanda Faye Yates, 73, of Sandston, Va., passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023. She was born on February 11, 1950 in Richmond, the third child of the late Roland Eacho, an army veteran with a purple heart, and Elizabeth (Johns) Eacho.

Faye was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Yates; step-son, Wayne Lee Yates Jr. (Margo); daughters, Tracy Jennings (Maurice), Stacy Smith, Laura Leigh (Akram); sisters, Linda Howell (John), Norma Jean Ward, Lois Burnett; eight grandchildren, Ryan Ransom (Alexis), Bryan Ransom, Wendell Akram Ransom Jr. (Isabel), Danielle Angolemmo (Michael), Nicole Yates, Eric Yates, Connor Jennings, Peyton Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Faye was preceded in death by her four brothers, Virgil, Ronnie, Norman, and Mark Eacho.

Faye married Wayne on August 5, 1985 in Sandston, Va. Faye was very friendly and she loved cooking, crafts, and being active in her church. She was always willing to help others throughout her life. She joined the Highland Springs Nazarene church 30 years ago and was baptized there.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
