Obituary - Virginia Elizabeth Payne Haden

Virginia Elizabeth Payne Haden, 92, of Glen Allen, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022. She was born on February 28, 1930 in Buckingham County, Virginia; a daughter of the late Paul and Lou (Baber) Payne.
Elizabeth spent her working years as an administrative assistant for many firms. She enjoyed her work and embraced the many technological advances that she witnessed during her career.
She was adventurous and loved a social life. She enjoyed baseball, bowling, badminton, croquet, biking and swimming, and any other activity that involved other people. She was always ready for anything new and had a wonderful sense of humor that endeared her to many.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, George (Buddy) Payne and sisters, Pauline Snoddy, Kathleen Riley and Grace Payne.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 36 years, James H. Haden; daughter, Nancy L. Charlton; son, William Robert Charlton II; as well as two grandchildren, Sarah Shropshire and Anna Kidd.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Road, Richmond, VA 23228 where a Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to Hospice of Virginia, 2235 Staples Mill Road, Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23230.
