It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Victor Dempsey, 65, who passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, after a brief illness.

Vic, the seventh of nine, was born in Richmond VA on 19 May 1959 to Clarence and Ida Dempsey. He was predeceased by his parents, four of his siblings, and his beloved cat Buddy. He attended J.R. Tucker High School, graduating in 1978, then earned a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998. He achieved a position as a store manager for Safeway and worked as an account service representative for CL Accounting before moving into insurance. Vic was an Operations Specialist and became a well-loved Manager of Operations, both positions for Inland Marine/Traveler’s. At the time of his passing, Vic worked for Hanover Insurance.

Vic is survived by and will be greatly missed by his partner and the love of his life, Duane Gore, who he met in August of 2010 and shared fourteen wonderful years. They were married on June 1, 2019. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Rosie Sydnor (Wayne), Diane Dalton (Danny), Jeff Dempsey (Jan), and Evelyn Rodamer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Vic left some very dear friends who will miss his presence and easy nature. The family wishes to offer special thanks to Wendi Steele for all her help and love during this difficult time.

Vic was happiest spending time with his husband, Duane, and their pups, Ginger and Penny. He had a deep connection to his family. He enjoyed snow, and Nature in general, but especially loved feeding and watching the birds he and Duane attracted to their yard. Vic was well known for his kindness, quick smile, his compassion, and empathy for everyone who crossed his path.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Affinity Funeral Service 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, Va. 23294. A service celebrating Vic’s life will follow at 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
