To our family and friends we are sad to announce the passing of our father Tommy R. Morris also known as Tommy, Soapy, and Daddy/Pappa, Bootscooter. Dad was one of six in a family of four girls and two boys with our dear Aunt Bonnie remaining, Thomas married our mother Joan when she was 16 and began their love story. They raised three boys Bruce, Mike, & Scott in Shortpump VA. Bruce (the oldest) enlisted into the Air Force and was Stationed in Abilene Texas fresh of the success of the Urban Cowboy movie. Mom And Dad always had a fondness for Texas and anything country music and dancing. They took that love and brought “Texas -2 stepping “to the Richmond country bar scene. Within a couple of years they formed many friendships and created The Boot Scooters Country & Western Dance Club. At one time they had over 1200 active members and over 4000 in total though the years. Within their run they had raised over $100,000 for Children’s Hospital doing dance demonstrations and fundraising. To this day they are responsible for so many friendships and relationships that thrive to this day. Through their love for each other, music and dancing …they have left us all with a legacy that will last for eternity. Please join us to mourn, celebrate, & appreciate the life our father Tommy Morris.
